Default Gt2 RS Shifter - is it really new?

Reading more and more about this car - each article makes mention of a tighter throw shifter in a GT2 RS. I am now curious what this part number will be/is and if it is indeed new. It would be nice to convert it to 997 GT3 if compatable.
Sure I know there are other options out there...cup cables etc....
I just want to make this simple and clean and wonder of this will work...and more importantly get rid of the 2nd to 3rd shift vagueness that plagues my GT3..

As I mentioned on 6Speed, the answer is...

Shifter assembly same as 2010+ GT3
Shift cable same as 2010+ GT3
Limited Slip Differential same (POS GKN unit) as GT3 going back about a decade.

Part numbers are identical.

Sadly, more parts bin engineering... Suckered AGAIN!

So 2RS owners can look forward to all the usual and customary aftersale upgrades as the GT3, brakes, shifter cable, Guard LSD, etc etc.

Why are Porsche cars and mexican food similar ? Same ingredients just rearranged and renamed.

No ****e. I am going to roast some engineering and marketing *** at the "Delivery Event". It really is shameful!

Did a bit more digging Same rear anti roll bar and bushing and drop links as GT3. Same front tie rod ends. Same front anti roll bar, bushing and drop links.

The lower strut on rear is different??

The 2RS is truly and honestly a motor dropped into a GT3RS chassis.

So $50K per Turbo?
But whadabout those fenders and CF hood, pretty light no? O wait, weight reduction is needed in the rear..

not much if you think the body changes and the 620 hp motor is worth a add'l 100 grand....w/o any allowance for the GT3 RS 3.8 motor.....

Reminder to Pete: You knew all that before ordering

But please roast them!
Only paying customers can ask these types of questions unlike all the journalists / lobbyists that go there as guests and they always blow their shot of asking a decent series of questions in fear of losing face and future invitations.
I also have 3-4 questions that I would like an answer for and will forward them to you.

Reminder to self “even if you don’t get an answer to your questions and even if the only color available is a PTS pink with white decals and flowers if you can ever afford it just buy it” : )

Spot on brother John. Always look at the money trail when reading an opinion. GD sycophants don't dig any deeper than their catered lunches. Honestly this was the first time I dug into the PET to compare, so shame on me for not having done mmore homework.

Peter has it right as well: $50k per turbo

Hell of a car? Without doubt. Maximum profit extraction from yet another parts bin exercise, I think without a doubt as well?

And yes all this is "high-class" problem/bitching.

But if I had 245k to spare I can damn sure tell you one would be ordered by me.....or just wait 12 -18mos and pick one up that has depreciated to 160k

From current 911's I think that the Sport Classic brings them more.
