Default GT3 RS.2 on Slicks

Hi Guys,

Do any of you guys run slicks on your GT3's??

If so so you use 18's or 19's?

I have been thinking about tracking my RS more, however I have tracked it once and was really dissapointed with Pilot Sport Cups so I was hoping that Slicks will change my mind on this.

Below is a video of my last race in my Cup and as you can see, I enjoy driving on slicks. Check out the save at 2.12......

Hey Aaron, most guys here running slicks are doing so on 18s champ... Apparently sizes are limited or non existant in the 19s unless you go hoosiers or similar... I'm sure this will eventually change. You will have trouble getting CL 18s locally because OZ don't offer them so you'll need to go BBS or maybe HRE (via AMG wheels in NSW) so $8-10k is the likely cost...

Alternatively, there are US suppliers but choose carefully... been there, done that... not the greatest experience if you fluke a dud...

ps. NICE slide....

Aaron, Forgeline has a deal for rennlist members. They have CL's in 18"...3pc race wheels.

With slick level grip the suspension should be adjusted as well I think to make it work better.
2:12 is not a save; we call that mid corner correction LOL

18" on Michelin N1 Cup slicks. It's like heroin
Hoosier makes a good slick, too.

For wheels Forgeline is a good bet. BBS is a sure bet but pricier.

Hey Chris,

That doesn't sound like you had a good experience... I was going to go with Oz Ultra Leggera's as they are cheap and look good, however if tyres are going to be tough to get then the 18's may be a better option as I can fit Michelins Cups on these.... I think.....

PS - Sunday 28th Aug - I have another GT3 run. You in???

Thanks,

I am not 100% sure that the look of these wheels suit the RS.2....

I was told today at our Porsche Club meeting that the Hoosiers last for 2 laps and then they drop off considerably....

Is this true??

Hey champ,

No, my wheel purchasing didn't go as planned but all sorted now. Will fill you in when we catch up... If you're happy with Hooters, the 19s will work, if you want the cup slicks, definitely 18s... BBS through magwheel centre, HRE through AMG wheels.

If I get my car back, I'd love to come for a spin on the 28th... Mine was found to have rear hub damage with the CL recall... Been waiting for parts since the first week in July. Its due to get new rear hubs and CL bolts that week!

The sounds those cup cars make never gets old!

Not having ever driven a cup car, I had a question about your hands. They move, a lot. Is it because of the car itself or your driving style? I'm just a DE guy so I apologize for the dumb question ahead of time.

Didn't know Aaron, it seemed fine to me... Took it in to get the CL bolts changed per the recall and they found some marring on the rear hubs but no damage to wheels or rotors... My car was delivered in April 2010 and they first changed the track spec to 600Nm for track in Aug/Sept. By that point I'd done a couple days at the track. The damage would have occurred back then as I went to 600Nm the second I read it here... They've been waiting for parts since then and I got a call on Thursday just gone to say they are in.

Yours was delivered in Oct and may have been torqued to 600 Nm from factory. Regardless champ, if you haven't already done so, book it in asap to get the CL recall done in case you're in a similar boat...

nice video! your method/line in turn 2 is awesome, turn 1 need to hang to the right a little longer on the main straight and turn in a touch later, apexing a bit further up to get more exit.

A friend of mine runs 19" Michelin slicks on this GT3RS (mk1) on standard size wheels and stock suspension and is very happy with it. You should get a good alignment done for running with slicks as they can use a lot more camber.

Do you know what tyres and sizes he uses and where he gets them from? I didn't think you could get slicks in a 19 yet...
