4.0 On Track

Soft sprung car no problem, stiff car you need to drive around some bumpy areas and/or get proficient in applying/releasing/reapplying brake unless you want to skate through the turns. Frankly I accept the extra challange and enjoy turning faster laps than those that cannot adapt. My 3RS is fairly stiff in both dampening and springs and you see in the other video thread how it reacts.
Sorry, whaaaa?
The grey GT3 you see in the videos in theother thread I posted (hot car on car action) is a Sharky 3.9. Really- so much is driver? I am quite comfortable on that track in a GT3 and can outrun 98% of folks out there with me. A drag race is not really any relevant measure, so it all boils down to how each car handles on track. BTW- the grey Sharky car turned a 1:34.9 at Laguna Seca a month back in the hands of its old owner. That Cup car time. Like I said...
That's it Jimmy, it just revs and revs. No surprises, so linear which makes it very confidence inspiring to drive hard.
Tim, we get all kinds of wild stuff here. I take it in stride and honestly, I enjoy seeing some of the project cars that show up. May not be the fastest but the drivers surely drive the hell out of them and have a lot of fun.

LOL! I just saw it! The passenger in the Orange Mustang! What the hell was that about? No idea that happened. How did he do that if he was belted in? Guessing he was looking to see if I divebombed him and was stealing the apex?
Get the hell on line or out of the way I say eh?
Good eye Roberga!

Wait!
PSYCHE! That was the tire wall in the background not a passengers head. Optical illusion.
Freaky man!

You got it Jimmy It was a weird feeling to be able to turn my head 90 degrees to look through turns (no H&N device or harnesses)
I put my camber gauge on it yesterday and found -2.2 rear and - 1.6 front! Wow. That's aggressive for a factory setting.
It does push pretty badly in medium and slow turns so I adjusted the rear bar from middle to full tight (of three holes). Front was already one from full loose (of four holes).
More video later today

Pete,
thanks for the update and the videos.
I am not a straightline, drag racer either but am perplexed by the R&T test (only instrument test I've seen so far) showing the 4.0 equal to the 3.8 in most major acceleration test (ie 0-100, 1/4 mile, etc). Hoping GT Porsche (which usually posts a side-by-side comparison of new and outgoing models) will test soon. Otherwise it's up to real owners like yourself to debunk the R&T numbers.
BTW...saw your car at RRIV...what brakes are on it ? Appeared to be Ceramic rotors with factory/iron calipers. Or was it the Movit set painted to match ?
thanks

On smoother clutch engagement - the 4.0 uses a different and improved pressure plate. The 3.8 RS has a weak spot there and in my region there have been a rash of failures. The repair involves replacing the pressure plate with the new one from the 4.0.
