NWD; 18" Forgeline WC3R for 997.2 GT3RS
Woohoo! Jeff Alton at Pacific Western Performance, Inc., deserves big kudos for putting this package together for me. Communication was very good and pricing was the best I could find for a high quality forged wheel set (I have been asked about weights and they are as follows; 9x18 @ ~20#s each & 12x18 @~24#s each).
Jeff had them dropped shipped to me saving significant time in transit since I live in the same state (Ohio) as Forgeline (packaged very nicely I might add). They will be mounted/balanced later this week in preparation for our annual trek to the 2012 edition of the PBOC Winterfest at Sebring.
I have been using the stock wheels and OE MPSC tires since I got the car in November 2010. 4 track days a Sebring, 6 days at Mid Ohio, and 3 days at Putnam Park and they still have some tread. I am switching to Kuhmo V710 (245/40R18 Squared Shoulder & 315/35R18 Rounded Shoulder) for the 18" Forgelines. The 315/35R18 is actually as wide as the 325/30R19 MPSC and the overall diameters of both front and rear are virtually identical to the OE MPSC. Not certain why more people aren't trying this combination. I have used V710s on previous cars and was quite happy. I hope they are equally satisfying on the RS.
Hope to see you at Sebring

Thanks. I was going to go with an all red wheel but Jeff suggested the polished lip. I certainly like the way it turned out.
I will posted pictures of the tires mounted on the wheels.
Mo, great to hear from you. January can't get here soon enough! It would be nice to see you at Sebring one of these days. All we can do now is hunker down and wait for April to arrive.
Happy Holidays!

Matt,
those turned out great! Great to see you are happy with them, you were a pleasure to deal with.
Cool looking GTI in the back of your garage.
Tom,
We've got to get a set or two on your car!
Cheers

BTW- the VW is not a GTI but an '04 R32 with a few tweaks (465awhp/432awtq @ 1.1 bar). Quite a handful if you know what I mean.

Yeah those are going to look great and perform great. From experience in dealing with Jeff and Forgeline is that they do stand behind the product and they do the right thing.
I hope...fingers crossed to re-buy a set of Forgelines from Jeff at some point.
I had these for a short while

Also from my experience, I think the V710's are the fastest tire (R Comp's). I'm curious to see how long they last in a DE application w/ a relatively heavy car and welcome your comments/ observations on ownership. The price and performance are right. If they last as long as R6's (I think they will) I would be all over them...

While we were installing the Forgelines on the RS, I compared the Kumho V710s to the stock MPSC tires. The Kumho fronts are slightly wider than the MPSC's, but the rear 315 Kumhos are ~10 mm narrower than the 325 rear MPSC. Wider than a normal 315 but still not as wide as the factory MPSC fitment. I will try to provide feedback while we are at Sebring.
