They had 600 leftover pistons? They could have built 100 more cars!

I sent an email to the sales manager at my local P dealer this AM and he was kind enough to answer me on a Sunday, BUT he told me "The piston case and the porsche plaque was sent to the first 15 clients who ordered the 4.0 from the plant"
WTF?
Seems to be contradictory to what I am reading on this site.

Baron, missed your call last night.
great gift!!!
i dont have one ;-(
but if PAG PCNA marketing is reading, these should be sent to every original RS owners. otherwise, we start robbing and killing each other for spare pistons. this wont be good for PR. mooty kills baron in an attempt to swipe his piston ....
epic marketing 101 failure.

I got a letter from the postman early last week that they had a package from porsche waiting for delivery, but it was COD. $8. Really Porsche? Needless to say, I never got around to waiting to find my mail man to hand the the $8 for my package so who knows what was in it. Although I'm pretty certain it wasn't a piston

Kidding aside, it would certainly be gauche of Porsche to not send one to each of you special people who bought this car. A nice thoughtful gesture could quickly become a big marketing faux-pas.
