Eddie boy, please setup a Dyno day this week. Invite the usual suspects. I need to bring both the Fiat and Coxster, for another baseline, to submit the classification forms for the NASA-TT 2012 season.

NASA-TT is the perfect place for this challenge, lots of open track in the TT group, great driving level in the TT group.
Keep us up to date when the dyno day is and where. PRS Tuning has a 4wd dyno (if needed) in Orlando/Sanford which is a nice central location and they do cars like these all the time.

If Rad is running traqmate we can at least get a ballpark of where the hp is using their calculator. I find it to be pretty accurate for my car.

The latest software for the Traqmate has some neat stuff, 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc.

Do you know how to read the HP stuff in the Traqmate? I have a lot of files and can't see how to do it? or is it a thing to do while the car is running?

I wonder how does traqmate calculates drag from massive wings? it probably throws a bogus low HP number on a car like the GT3 Cup or 4.0RS.

EDDIE boy, setup the Dyno Day this week. Make it a new Thread. Lots of people interested, at least 4 cars confirmed. Don't make me go Greek on you.

Mr. Cuatro Punto Cero, I hope you bring your cheater Blue Aero Beetle to the dyno day, or are you afraid of dynos as you are of drag racing?

Yes, it's on the segment analysis on traqstudio (or traqview). But you have to enter all the information for your car correctly. The drag is the one are you will have to likely guess for big wings unless your car is listed on their, or you know the figures.

This Traqmate thingy is pretty neat.

The Max HP is throwing some interesting numbers. I have Trakcar RS at Sebring in January 2011, My Fiat at the same event in 2011, My Cayman last November, The Greek 3.8 GT3 and My Fiat on January 2012 (includes TSB updates). I also have Chris Hall on Izzone's car, with Izzone as a passenger.

I set the 6 cars at 0.679 Cd x frontal area, as I have no idea what this is, and this is the value for a Porsche 944.

Using a straight between T16 and T17, the maximum numbers are:

2007 Cayman S (bone stock): 299.06 HP
2010 GT3 3.8 (The Greek, bone stock): 457.31 HP
Izzone's 3.8 RS (Cheater exhaust): 483.18 HP
TRAKCAR's 3.8 RS(Cheater exhaust too): 492.10 HP
09 Scuderia stock: 518.39 HP
09 Scuderia (Cheater exhaust to play fair): 544.25 HP

how can my car put 397whp on a dyno, and 544HP on a Traqmate, I have no idea. The one thing I know is that Reter has almost 200Hp over my Cayman, and 35Hp more than the Greek, so the 3.8RS with cheater exhausts seem to be gaining a lot of power.

you set Cd x frontal area too low

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drag_(physics)

wiki link above describes some of formulas (incremental speed at x is a function of horse power and aero drag to simplify).

I just increased the Cd X Fa and the HP numbers went to the roof, so I think the number I'm using is actually too high, (borderline between a Porsche 944 and a Honda Civic).

Using a 0.807 (2001 Honda Civic), my Cayman went up to 316 HP (there is no way a bone stock cayman has that much power), and the Fiat to 560 HP. Reter's 3.8RS went to 509 HP, more power than a 4.0RS.

This assumes RS 4.0 numbers are not sandbagged - not an assumption I'd make.

Why all this focus on real or assumed HP?

WGAS?

Let's DRIVE the cars, not bench race them.

Keep it up Rad, this has become a terribly fun thread to read!

Because the boys are suffering, now that suddenly my Fiat is making decent power (says Traqmate and the guy with the Nissan GTR and a Pearl Lambo).

Power is nothing without control, and car control is lacking in my short experience driving cars flatout. The lack of supersize wings hurts me even more, so it is an easy grab.

We need bets, because bets buy Trophy and pay for beer. I need to find a name for the Trophy.

I'm in. Awaiting challenger and rules.

NASA has a TT at Sebring at the end of the month. Perfect Timing.

The NASA TTU lap record is up for grabs too ==> 2:18.18
