Local dealer 991 launch last night
Went to the launch at local dealer last night. very nice. impressions are-
Its noticeably bigger than the 997 both sitting inside and viewing outside. Interior quality definitely up tho it had been specced with full leather. The engine is placed further forward and lower in the chassis and with longer wheelbase contributes to the handling improvement. Means there is even less to see when you pop oven the back. DE instructor mate who has peddled it around track says its noticeably faster into the apex than gt3. Probably why early testers are saying c2s is as quick as gt3 with less power...

More shocking is a multi-car review by Auto-Mund Sport (or something), which had the 991S out-brake everything out there (Lambo, RS 4.0, 458), and be only 0.5mph slower than the RS4.0 through the slalom (remember, 991S is on MPSS, RS 4.0 on MPSC).
So, evidently the chassis is a.m.a.z.i.n.g. Which, says a lot about what the GT3/GT2/Cup is going to be like.

I went for a ride in a 991 today: wow!
It was a PDK car & what really impressed me was the dual nature of the car; cruiser one minute & racer the next. At the push of a few buttons the induction/motor noise & overall feel was awesome! I believe Porsche has a winner on their hands.
Yes, it doesn't feel like a GT3/RS, but remember this is a Carrera S, not a GT3/RS. It's target market is very different & broad.

I drove it a few weeks ago at my dealer event. While, stylistically, it was great, it felt nothing like the GT3. So even if it was faster, it felt like wearing a comfy leather loafer, as opposed to the track shoe my GT3 is.

sat in 991 for 1st time today;
not fond of it, actually.
too many buttons, gadgets and useless dial.
the leather is straight from the latest vw's - same batch.
door has more buttons than s-class, as does roof console.
door handles and seat adjusters are cheap plastic.
seating position is good, nice n low
opened the engine cover and a random kid commented how small the engine was, i said yeah, it's no good!!!!! haha told the dealer the same; i.e. that it's no good.
he knows us motorsport people are eminently fussy....he don't care because he probably sold half a dozen in the a.m. to the enmassed hoi pollei

Those fans that u only see opening engine lid looks like some Motel 6 ac fans installed in window but black. How the heck emergency crew extinguish a fire? Sledgehammer 1st? Mike
