Early reviews of 918 Spyder prototype
Both Motor Trend and Car & Driver have posted "first ride" reviews of a 918 Spyder prototype. These are not full road tests but are really teasers for what's to come.

Very odd ......... In the Motortrend video, the british chap on refers to this car as a "Plug-in Hybrid" !
How can this be true when he also goes on to state that it is powered by a V8 ? !

The MotorTrend article is very interesting.
I can honestly say the 918 has the most unique automotive camshaft I have ever seen...Also, the crankshaft appears as though it would break during the first hard downshift, however I'm sure it's very strong. Gotta love German engineering.

They say they are targeting 7:22 at the 'Ring. The GT2RS has already done 7:18. Can the 918 be slower than the GT2RS? Hard to believe they would produce a new supercar that's not faster than an existing model.
But I guess it will get better gas mileage ...

I wish they would make one with just a traditional engine. 600 hp 2600 pounds.
