Default Rumormill - 991 GT3 to come with PDK only

http://www.topspeed.com/cars/porsche...-ar104336.html

Via http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/sc...gt3-get-450bhp

so afterall they did it, the new 991 Gt3 will not be offered in manual !

The 997 GT3 RS 4.0 collectible value seems guaranteed at this point...

rumors but still it would make sense as the PDK is better on the track than on the street anyways.

I call bunk on the no maual option unless they've booted AP off the GT3 program...and even then I doubt it.

BMW tried it with the M5 and we all know how that worked out for them. In fact BMW appear to be following Porsche down the 7-speed manual path: http://www.autoblog.com/2012/06/06/p...-speed-manual/

The BMW E60M5/E63M6 issue turned out to be an abortion. The 6MT was an after thought. The S85 V10 engine is perfectly matched for the SMG III.
I own an M5 w/ SMG and have driven the 6MT and it sucks.
Fortunately this will not happen with Porsche.

And miss an opportunity to charge an arm and a leg for an optional 'race calibration' PDK gearbox? I doubt it...

this is at once sad and financially wise for Porsche if this is true.

This is exactly what my source told me and I posted that a few weeks back. My source has been very reliable and accurate in the past... He said 3.8L 9A1 motor putting out 450hp with PDK only for the GT3. The RS will have the choice of PDK or manual transmission.

That makes perfect sense, pdk for GT3, option for RS.

And I will bet you that the first iteration of the "GT3" will be a glorified Carrera S like some on this board have already suggested (there goes the "GT3" moniker), well nothing lasts forever... Porsche is probably going to concentrate on the next RS which I believe will have under 500HP to keep the "4.0" special...BUT might be quicker due to weight and electronics... I still think they're losing the HP race (and quick-shifting transmission race).

A finance guy can't part with his finance lingo LOL. It's definitely shaping up to a PDK offering... stick shift optional if we're lucky...

They'll offer both. Personally I can't wait for the pdk. I've driven a pdk car on track and loved it. No missed shifts, no money shifts, and it's a zillion times faster than you could hope to move the stick.

As long as we're making bets, I'll bet the new "glorified Carrera S" will be quicker than the current RS, without PDCC or PDK. With PDK, no contest.....
