Default What's the verdict on GiroDisc's

Overall are the people who have used GiroDiscs instead of the stock replacement parts happy with them? Any special concerns for center locks?

Thanks.

Why are you saying not? I have used them on .2 RS cars and proper pads without issue.( both p50 and rs29). What issue are you seeing?

They rock. No doubt about it...

Excellent built quality and last so long that I initially feel weird not changing them after 30-40 track days. But my current set has 60 track days.

Never bothered with the rear disks since they don't see the same abuse, but I am totally happy with them..

I have not used them on my GT3 yet, but have used them on other cars with no complaints. Great product and the longevity is amazing!

Fail? Really? I can't see how using a different size pad is even possible given that the calipers don't change.

That is not related.

In a 997.2 GT3 you could try installing Pagid U2707 and U8004 on the front. Both fit the calipers perfectly. The first one however will overlap the inside of the brake disk. Second one is a perfect fit.

Performance Friction, same story. Pad used for their disk is not the same as the PFC pad used for the OEM disk. No change in calipers.

I'm very happy with them on my 997.1 GT3. I'm using stock sized PFC08 pads. The only downside is that they click when the rotors change direction (more likely the pad making the noise) and you have to re-learn how to brake without invoking instant ABS (again, most likely due to the pad rather than rotor).

Then I apologize to izzone and I retract my flippant statement. I can't for the life of me visualize why a stock pad wouldn't work, but I'm far from an expert. I'll have to check if the same is true for my application when it's time to go down that path.

You simply have to consider how the rotor hat is different between the two. The OE rotor is a floating design. It has an aluminum hat with steel spokes fanning out radially. The steel friction disk is held via the spokes.

On the Giro (and PFC and Brembo and others), the friction disc is BOLTED to the hat. This means those two parts need to overlap. Hence, the hat is a larger diameter on the 2 pc designs. This larger diameter means the pads likely hit the hat, since the OE hat is slightly smaller.
