this was a great buy - watched it on BaT and it's been the only thing on BaT that I thought was a good deal - that place brings some pretty big numbers

'RS Orange' was discontinued shortly after MY2010 for reasons that Porsche NEVER fully explained.
It might have been related to issues with the paint (such as fading) that was detected over time. As
most of you know, when 'RS Orange' (Code '8C6') was introduced for the 2007 .1 997 gt3, it was
exclusive to that gt model for ONE year. By MY2008, Porsche allowed it to be listed as an approved
PTS color which anyone could order...plus selected it for various Limited Editions versions of the
Boxster & Cayman. I remember at least two 'RS Orange' .2 997 gt3s in 2010, one out of The Collection
in Miami & another out of Porsche Roslyn (now Porsche Gold Coast).

When I asked Porsche at the time as to why they had withdrawn such a distinctive & popular color,
Porsche simply suggested that we warm-up to a color they had approved in the range - 'Pastel Orange'
(Code Z17). At that time, 'Gulf Orange' was not yet approved. To this day I think this was a big mistake
by PAG & it's cadre of color gurus/fashionistas. If they are having problems with a particular paint formula
due to technical issues such as fading, the expertise exist within the 3 or 4 major suppliers of automotive
paint to Porsche to simply formulate a new chemistry that will give us the same approximate color that
has established high demand...but with better efficiency & longevity!

However, of the remaining 'orange' hues approved currently by Porsche, I like 'Pastel Orange' best.

Saludos,
Eduardo

Cleaned up the decals, turns out the car has a full transferable aftermarket warranty bought from Niello Porsche. It's good through 10-2022.

definitely a much cleaner look now.

tire paint is a nit for me. don't care either way. although might be more inclined to do more donuts & burn a little more tread off quicker tho

once you get er the way you want,... we'll need some "full stable" pics with all of them!!

Looks great. You did very well on that car.

How does everything else feel? Transmission is good? Happen to get a DME report on it? I ask just because if all of those things are clean, you have a car that you can truly drive guilt free for many years to come and probably get everything out of it that you paid for it.

Loud color just like the car. The mirrors are begging to be black to ratio out the black wheels in my opinion. I also vote no on the forza horizon tires. Don’t try to save it for the next guy. Driving is highly recommended 👍🏻

I ran the DME report on the 2011 Pastel orange GT3:

I don't see/feel any issues with the car. I added GT2 buckets and picked up a nice set of BBS monoblocs. I'll upload some pics once I get them mounted.

Loving the way it looks! I'll have to keep an eye out to see if there ever comes a time you want to sell it... !

Love the wheels, painted console, and the dirty floor mat which means you’ve been driving it.
