If you search you may be able to find a thread from a bit ago where one of the users here took is 2010 GT3 over 200 mph on the autoba (he even took a pic of the speedomiter if I remember correctly.

Colette..welcome to Rennlist...

might take a bit for many here to recognize what a 60 plate means - the majority of users are in North America....

PAG had the 2010 GT3 Vmax at 194..i'd be surprised that it could push past a valid 200mph without liberating further horses.

What is a "60 plate"?

The fastest I ever got was 196 (speedo) on Daytona Racetrack. I dont plan on doing that again. Once was enough....

The speedometer is off by a large percentage, verified with GPS. My 2007 GT3 RS was off by 5.5%, so an indicated 200mph, is an actual speed of 189 mph.

I don't think a stock GT3 can push a legit 200 mph.

195 mph? still a tall order, and more easily achieved with the 435Hp GT3, than the 500Hp GT3 RS 4.0

I ripped this off a video from a go pro camera taped to the inside of the steering wheel while doing a Euro Delivery with my 2010 GT3. I had no GPS backup info to verify that it was indeed 201mph. As you can see the car had some more rpms to go through, but I needed more distance on the autobahn straight to do so that was not available. To do this you need MILES and MILES of straight flat good pavement that you have run at hight speeds beforehand to be sure it is good pavement with no surprises. Also need little to no traffic on a 3 laned section with NO cross wind and obviously dry pavement. The last thing you want is some little Fiesta going 70mph pulling out infront of you. This was like at 7am or so on a Saturday morning. It was amazxing how hard the car works to get those last 20 or so mph. It was an absolute thrill. For me at the time (3 years ago or so) anything up to 150mph was ok. Once you get over that speed all of the sudden I don't think you are able to do much else other than to hold for your life on the steering wheel. I can't think of what else to add at this point other than this will certainly be one of the things in your life you can never forget!

I will add this to the experience. I was amazed at how well the aero kept the car stable. Though it was somewhat scarry to go that fast, I had complete faith in the capabilities in my GT3. Even in the areas of pavement that were not perfectly flat with an occasional irregular surface, the car settled right back down with no drama. It also was amazing at just how quickly with just letting off the gas pedal the car slowed down. It was almost as if a parachute was set off.

I just remember that feeling of, "Wow Mr. Porsche, thanks for that!"

Rad, I am guessing you say this because of the additional aero on the RS 4.0?

The GPS test is simple, grab Garmin or iPhone with HLT, Traqmate, Aim Solo DL, run to 60 mph stable indicated on GPS and write down the digital speedometer reading, do it again at 70mph GPS speed, then 80, then 90, then 100. Plot the results and the average ratio difference is how far off is the dashboard speedometer from reality.

In my 996GT3 it was 4.2% with a taller than stock tire (335 RA1 instead of 295 PS2).

In my 997 GT3 RS it was 5.5% with a 325/30R19 MPSC (instead of the stock 305/30R19 MPSC).

My Fiat is the worse of all, 7.5% off. Lambos are even worse at 8.5% verified in a 08 Superleggera.

I enjoy claims of speeds at track days. People claiming 150 mph on the back straight of Sebring when the cars are running under 140 mph. At Daytona, it was even funnier, a few claims of 180 mph on cars that were lapping close to 6 secs slower than the DE Cup front runners (trakcar, Red Bear, jmacul, my Fiat).

that cant be right the satellite has to come from space then bounce of your car then bounce back to space i think the speedo must be more accurate

Correct.

The drag created by massive wings hurt top speeds.

Back in 2008 the Viper with the new 8.4 600Hp V10 came as a Coupe, Cabrio and the winged track-day ACR. The ACR could be ordered up to 80 lbs lighter than the standard GTS, same powertrain. The GTS could pass 200 mph, while the ACR topped at 180mph despite of having the same power and less weight.

If you stop by those 1-mile run events, there are a few tricks to learn. I used some of those tricks at a Time Trial years ago at Pocono, and the 6 years old lap time in my 996 GT3 still stands strong even by today's NASA-TT records.
