Will the 4.0 RS hold it's value.......
Guys I know this is speculation at this point, but do you believe the 4.0 RS will hold it's value? Is paying 40k over a big financial mistake? Will it drop like a rock when the 991 RS comes out? What's everyone's opinion? Where do we think prices on these cars will be four years from now? Does anyone think they will go up in value, maybe even past the 40-50k over many people have paid? Can't wait to hear everyones thoughts.

No, but it will depreciate far less than most other cars on the market. Especially with low mileage. Paying over sticker you risk losing your shirt and there is too much speculation on the next gen GT3 / RS to really know how that will play out. Look at the 997.1 RS prices (and people paid well over MSRP for those). So you really can't be assured of anything other than you'll definitely enjoy the 4.0. 3.8 isn't too shabby either though!

Are u willing to wait that long for 4.0 to go up? Thank god Mooty is holding one because it's the last of the last vs how much it'll be worth. If he holding it to milk it to other owner- he ain't no friend of mine. Mike

If they go up in value, it'll be in 20+ years. I wouldn't consider an RS 4.0 as an "investment."
If you want to minimize your loses, buy a 996 GT3 and sell it for about the same price a few years later.

Buying a 4.0 for an investment is total speculation. (You will need to bubble wrap it and wait and it still may loose value) The odds are against you making any money doing this. If you find a great deal, below MSRP, then enjoy the car. Just keep it simple as this situation has more variables than equations.

As soon as new 991 GT3 and 991 GT3 RS are out, the used market will dump them on trade-in, there will be a longer supply of 3.8 and 4.0 RS for sale and less buyer. Market rules: they will take a hit.
I hope Porsche prices the new GT3 in the $165k range, and the next GT3 RS in the $215k range, people will buy them anyway as there is nothing else they will buy, but it will help resale of older GT3s, and increase profits for the beloved brand.

agreed. history does indeed repeat itself.
also, the starting price is very high. it's gotta drop a bit...
was reading some gtporsche magazines from 2006 and looking at the classifieds, was amazed that there were some 964 rs at 39k pounds. nowadays they are surely over 100k.
