New Corvette...

I know Schroth make ASM belts but it does feel a lot more secure with a 6 point rather than a 4 point ASM. Some organizations won't allow a 4 point even though they are designated ASM. It would have been ideal if GM just had a made the sub belt pass through.

Stock seats were fine with typical Corvette shallow bolsters. I just sold a 2012 Grand Sport and there was more room between the door and the console in that car. the passenger side is very narrow. A number of people there yesterday commented on that.

There are also the same harnesses pilots use that you put around your legs.
Ideal would be a 991RS with actual competition seats, manual sub 3000lbs for 60k
I'll settle for 3300 manual for 60k and it comes with free ventilated seats.

Here's hoping GM is 100% rigorously insistent on quality for this new Vette.
Word is, the Z07, first said to be a 2016 model year, is just months away.
A patent filing suggests GM will have a 7 or 8 (or 9?) speed dual clutch box in some forthcoming models, perhaps including the Corvette.

That's what I was afraid of - I don't think of the typical flat GM seats as "fine".
The photos they have published so far only show additional bolstering on the back; the seat bottom appears to be exactly the same as the standard. Anybody got a sense of whether the competition seats are just a different back, or if they're a completely different seat?
I love the bang-for-buck of the new 'Vette, but if it's not comfortable enough to be a daily driver I think I'll end up with a Cayman S.

If they are the same Recaros that were in the Boss 302, which is a good possibility, then I found them comfortable for long trips. They are not a low seat though as you still sit pretty high. My only knock on them was the seat back at the top curved forward and put your head in a slightly forward attitude when wearing a helmet.

The "competition" seat option became available to order for the Corvette today. No word on when the factory onboard data/video recorder options will be available.

I'm sure it will be a nice comfy daily driver, it seems fast and durable enough on paper anyway.
Not much interest in spending more on a Chevy and no interest in dual clutch.
As soon as I can test fit myself in a car, competition seats or not I will know what to order.

I'll probably stick with the base Z51 unless the Z07 will fix things that are wrong on the base car. Quality and track durability are the big questions to be answered by buying and tracking the car.

The c7 z51, MRC, 7 speed is for daily driving, little track use.
C4S I had good for DD but PDK less involving.

They are slightly lighter w/ the magnesium frames.
I think its like $2500 extra.
Either way if your vette is going to be a track dog, then 1 piece race buckets are a must.

The comp seat buttoms have about 1in more side bolstering. The backs have a quite bit more bolstering.

Agree. You may have wait for the z06 orZ07 whatever it is going to be called.

I saw one in person today - Yellow w/Z51 package. It looks better in person than in photos.
