Default i crashed my GT3 at 160 mph...

hello everybody.
i write from France, so sorry for my english... i just want to say that i'm an unlucky man with the spain catalunya track. On september, the 28, i broke a centerlock on the rear right wheel, by chance, the wheel stay under the car without too much damages.
This time, at the end of the straight line, on the braking point, there was some oil. I could'nt do nothing to control the car at more than 160 MPH and that gone directly against the tire wall.
after 24h observation in the hospital, all was OK for me. i just want to invest in a hans, and a front rollbar...
look at this it's incredible :

Wow, really glad you are ok. Nasty crash.

Can you give any additional details? GT3 vs RS, 2010 vs 2011? Who routinely did CL maintenance?

hope your neck is ok

because you hit sideways a HANS wouldn't do much - you need a racing halo seat to support your head in that situation

looks like your car dove left on the application of the brakes
- since the car hit on the passenger's side, I would check to see if the driver's side suspension is ok - as it looked like something may have broken - obviously could have been oil but I would check to see if something did break

- the good thing is that you didn't hit at 260kpkh as you scrubbed a lot of speed before hitting - otherwise you would not have walked out of that car

- sorry for your loss - life is more important

- if you are going to continue doing this and that is your home track, I think a real racing seat and HANS are mandatory - that accident could have been far worse - you are very luck you didn't roll the car 10 times

keep your head up, nothing you could have done - if you do this long enough it happens to everyone

I reread the post and see this incident had nothing to do with CL failure..my bad..didn't read in close enough..

im glad that you are ok. Like others are saying, life/health is more important. Sorry that this happened to you.

HANS, roll bar (depends half or full - if full i dont think u can drive on street), proper 6 point harness is a must for safety.

Question about HANS and side impact - no protection at all unless you have halo seats? logically thinking about it... i dont think u would have any side impact protection

I think it's very important to note that he did not say that a hub failure caused this incident. The hub issue he referred to was Sept of last year.

I just re-read original post and it seems that is right. Hub failure in september, oil on track caused this crash.

Wow. Very scary! Cars can be replaced, your health is much more important. Like you said, learn from this and invest in the proper equipment if you continue to drive.

Wow, Sorry for your crash. Glad you are OK.

I am surprised that you left your car, who's to say that the next car wouldn't have followed and hit you.

Wow, glad you're okay. Fluids on track causing a spin or off-track excursion is a nightmare for all of who track our cars.

Yeah, a race seat, six-point harness, and a hans will help a ton to prevent future injuries. You were very lucky the spins scrubbed a lot of speed.

if no halo seat at least use a safety solutions hybrid pro h&n device. Glad you're ok.
