Is it me or does the new 650S look a lot like the sold.P1? The performance numbers on this sucker I wouldn't be too surprised that it will do a sub 7:20 around the ring. The numbers they are claiming make that very possible.
I haven't seen pricing yet but I hope it's priced less than the MP4-12. I'm thinking $200K-$225. But due to manufacturing methods I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I spoke with Alessandro Ribola, head dude at McLaren San Framcisco and he said it will be another 4 weeks before they get get their samples. But all the head dudes are at Goodwood right now testing out the new kit. Lucky buggers all of them.
Any thoughts on this new product besides mine own.

It is probably unlikely that the 650S will less than the MP4-12.. Isn't it supposed to slot between the P1 and the MP4-12? (so that's between $1M+ and $250k) Put that in the 4-500k range?!

I was thinking the 650S was slotted under the MP4.
Speaking of... I wonder when we will see the 960, isn't that the one above the 911 and 918. Really wondering what they are going to do for the powerplant? H8, H6 with KERS? At this point I have no idea.

I think it's more expensive than the mpm12ppcc14c.
You would think they would differentiate the cars more.

650S is slotted above the 12c. Have you driven the 12c? It's insane. Wow. Very fast and great handling. Such a well engineered vehicle. Not as organic or emotional as a 458, but way faster.

It's essentially a facelifted 12C with some (expensive) spec as standard like CCBs and some extra handling improvements/power for a bit more cost than a like for like specced 12c. Which IMO means anyone buying a new car would always go for the 650S and Mclaren are meaning to quietly drop the 12c.

They are bringing the 650S upmarket a bit to make room for the baby Mac.

Spoke to several McLaren reps at Amelia Island this weekend
650 replaces the 12c (according to the rep, 12c production ended in Dec) and will be approx. 10% more than the outgoing 12c.

The 650S is the .2 equivalent of a GT3. It's a refresh of the MP4-12C. The only reason its advertized as a slotting in between the MP4 and P1, is because they still have new unsold MP4s. Last I read, production of the MP4 has been discontinued.
