My guess is that the gt4 will be on par with 1gt3 performance. There is a slot to fill now when the gt3 is getting more and more street friendly. 5 lug, stripped out interior, MT and very track focused. Think a modern 6.3 feel. Which is very doable with off the shelf stuff in Stuttgart. So if they make it right it won't rival the 1.3 or the 1.3rs because that will likely be twice as expensive.

for an engine it would have to be the outgoing 3.8L. They are replacing that motor with a turbo in the new 911 line up therefore it would be typical of porsche to use up the tried and tested.
Id say this is Most likely the last normally aspirated cayman....
I cant see it making sence to introduce the 4 cly turbo in the GT4 cayman.....
My question is will they produce a series of GT4 race cars??

My guess is as disappointing as the other special variants before it:
Slightly lighter by removing a couple plastic trim parts
less base options thus pricier
parts bin special
an additional .5 or to 1 hp over the GTS
I'd love a hardcore Cayman but I've learned to keep my expectations in check when it came to Porsche unleashing the potential of that amazing sports car platform. I'll still get on the waiting list, just in case my cynicism is exagerated

I don't get their paranoia. No matter how inferior the 911 platform becomes/is, it will alway sell....that's been proven how many times now?
sell what people are asking to buy. I would buy a GT4 that has a dry sump 400+ NA HP, with good downforce, sport seats, and a 6 speed. In fact I would switch my place in line (however futile that is) from the RS to the GT4....

I've heard about this car for about 18months - not the specifics but that it is coming - basically a GT3 in Cayman form. I think the 997GT3mk1 is a very good analogy as that price point is open and they would sell every single one they can make - 400hp, mid engine, adjustable suspension to get enough camber, some fancy wings to make it look manly.
I think it has the makings of the new DE Cup spec car - the Civic Si 'Porsche GT4'

I've no doubt the car will be cracking but will be massively disappointed if they don't update the steering software.
