Default GT3 997.1 on track lost powersteering and dumped coolant?

So I went to the track and it was hot this weekend. Around 95 degrees. I was about 9 laps in and I was taking it easy, then suddenly the powersteering went out. I started to slow down and my friend in the car behind me said that my car started dumping coolant. (i already had the coolant lines welded) right before I came off track the engine heat warning message came up. I coasted to the pits and I shut it down.

After the car cooled down, I put in about 1.5 gallons of water back in the reservoir. Started it up and nothing leaked out. engine seems ok, but didn't rev it over 3k. The powersteering never came back. I'm taking it to the shop tomorrow, but I just wanted to get some of your thoughts. Has this happened to you? What are the chances I hurt the motor?

thanks for any thoughts!

almost sounds like you lost the belt. i.e. nothing driving the PSteering and water pump pulleys. (and hence the car lost PS, started to overheat and dump coolant) maybe the belt jumped/skipped or something and somehow made it back on track? or maybe there's a tear only evident under extreme load? anyway, i would check that belt first.

and i highly doubt you did any damage as long as you shut down right away.

Classic symptoms of losing the belt.

belt or a pulley that seized up as it got hot. That would actually be my first guess if you then drove around for a while afterward and didn't get the same problem

Serpentine snapped 1st on track loss powersteering and all the idiot lites lit up like Xmas lites plus fms started to leak too. Got both fixed- 2 weeks back on track coolant fitting decided to pop out(running on water wetter- thank god no one spun and didn't even know I was spilling coolant til I got meatballed then idiot lites came on again- shut motor down on side of track got towed back had mce at thill pin it for me so I can get back on track). Added about 5 gallons of distilled water fired motor up - water pump was leaking profusely : (. Couldn't get back on track. Miles on it at the time about 23k miles. Mike

did you happen to install a lwfw without installing the RS pulley and the longer bolt?
