Default New GT cars

Do you hate the direction the GT's are going?
I have a 2009 turbo cab now but I still wish I had my GT3?
does anyone think think direction of the new GT cars is too automated?
I'm leaning toward a GT4 as it may me the last of the non rear-stearing cars and the most anaolg of what's left. Am I nuts?

A truly troubled flash

Aquablue- sigh!!!!!!! It was beautiful, miss it more each day. Love the turbo kick, loved the longer GT3 pull more. Though I do love a cab.

There is nothing earth shattering about the specs of the RS. From a technological perspective it is not that different from the 991 GT3. On paper it shows a bigger engine, even wider body, and added lightness. Oh wait, it has a pit lane button!

Ha, and an unproven engine. I hate myself for selling the 2010, i can't feel but that the old school Porsche bulletproof reputation is gone forever. That's why I went for the 2009 turbo, still the old block and a manual to boot. I need help people, it's like the old girlfriend from college. They seem better than they actually were. ( In music, I hate myself for loving you......).

I don't like it. Why the same hp as last 4L? 21" rear wheels are ridiculous. And of course the unproven engine and automatic.... But I can't wait for the GT4!

Welcome to the cars and coffee era of cars. Sure it's faster and this and that. But that's the natural progression of cars. The gt car that applied to the purists is far gone.

In my opinion the 4.0 was the last GT car.

I tend to agree with you 997s07. But we might have to consider the 991 GT3 and the 991 RS to be in the same party. I think they are the last, before Hybrid tech kicks in like the 997 RSR Hybrid.

The new cars are faster and easier to live with day to day. So that is not a bad thing.

That being said i am not running to the dealer to pay $200k for a new RS just yet...

Actually, If Porsche opened the vault to access old blueprints and did another run of 993 turbos for $200k a piece, id' run every red light to get to the dealer with my cheque book...

Yes, do hate the direction of the GT cars are headed - GT in name only.

The 991 GT/RS have all the whistles and bells but lack the connection to Motorsports. Through the 997.2, the GT cars were developed with the motorsport group - not anymore.

A base 991 C2 is probably quicker than a 996 GT3 - but I'd much rather have the GT3. A driver's car. I have not interest in the 991 GT3RS.

What also made the GT3 special was the race car was based off the street car. Not the street car sorta based off the race car.

Manual transmission, a suspension that made one suicidal after two hours of driving, the sound of an engine being conceivably beat with hammers, full metal on metal contact, etc.

I drove the 991 GT3 on the streets and track. It literally felt like a video game. I know of a few examples and even a couple on this forum who sold the 991 and got back into the 997. To each his own, but Porsche needs the 991 GT3, and there are new customers that would never have bought the 997. Hence the crazy prices, they keep going and going… I'm stunned. The 997.1 is fetching $95K now, while there are many examples of non RS 997.2 cars costing more than used 991 GT3. Don't even get me started on the "GT4," - it's what the Cayman should have been in the first place. Autoblip? No. Say it ain't so. But it is so.

Drove my 991 gt3 60 miles yesterday and got it detailed after a Porsche car control clinic Saturday. Got all dirty with the wet skidpad. Would only spin with all nannies off. Then garaged it up and switched out for my 07 gt3. The 997.1 feels smaller and more raw. Feels more nimble. But I know which one is faster(PDK-S) on the track and in slalom (RWS).
Both fun
Both different
