Default Considering Selling 2008, need help with price

I am considering selling my 2008 Cobalt Blue GT3. It has 54,000 miles, of which 33,000 are from the original owner as a daily driver from Boynton Beach FL to Ft lauderdale. I purchased it in 2010 where it has been primarily used as a track car. It has Tequipment Bar, Euro Seats and Schroth harnesses. It has leather pretty much over the entire interior, the sticker was $137,000.

It has PCCB but i installed Steel for the track, the ceramic rotors are in a box. I also have a set of Fikse rims.

if i decide to sell what do you believe is a fair asking price.

I would go into a newer GT3 if i sell.

thanks in advance for any input

It's a strange market

It seems dealers are buying them left and right and promptly adding 20k to the list price sort of like the housing bubble LOL

So after you add the 20k a good start would be 90k

Not much bang for the buck going to a 7.2RS in this market. IMO at least $60K difference for a car possibly in worse condition without a warranty. Worn out CLs and drive train problems could put the difference near $100K. That kind of $$ puts you in the realm of a new 991GT3/RS.
Have you thought about waiting another year and checking out the GT4RS that could be coming?
I wouldn't take less than $95K.

Good luck with the upgrade.

75-95k seems to be the approximate range for non RS .1s over the winter. Things may be heating up this spring?

As a reference, there is a CPO 08 cobalt blue with 20k miles with an ask of 97k on ebay right now. Doesn't appear to be getting much traction. I think its been listed a few times already unless there was another cobalt 08 before this one. I can't remember exactly.

Good luck with the upgrade!

That is a gorgeous GT3! I believe it would sell quickly at $80-85K

Being a prospective GT3 buyer I will offer you my opinion. It is not my intent to offend anybody and I apologize if I do. I do know the "asking" prices for these cars has been going crazy so much to the point even if I had the money that some of the people are asking I am out for now. Considering the mileage being 54000 and the fact that it has been tracked the last 21000 miles I would think it would be in the < 70,000 range. Actually way below. That said the market is crazy and there seems to be a market for these car with the Porchefiles so who knows. I hope you do get what people are suggesting. Good luck with your sale, it is a beautiful car.

Some of the dealers around here have been tacking closer to 40k onto the 997.2 GT3 prices hoping to cash in on the recent hype. They seem to still be sitting on their lots too. We will see what happens come Spring. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said "bubble". For that reason I am out. If you see that I have bought one, you better dump them quick because that will mean the bubble is about to burst. ;-) Seems to be my luck. LOL

he means GT3. I agree - a beat up 997.1-3 won't easily go below 70K. The OPs car looks to be in great condition, well kept, and has all the right track modifications for the right buyer. Also 2008 is a pretty rare year for a non-RS and that color is beautiful. I say list at 85-90K and go from there. For me when selling sometimes it's not the $ nearly as much as the ease of transaction and the buyer.

I also do not mean to offend you, but you think OP's car is less than 70K, then I think you will be "out" for a very long time.

For less than 70K, you are shopping for 996GT3. Even these are going up in price rapidly.

Yes, there is a bit of a bubble out there, especially on 4.0RS, but this cobalt blue will sell $80 plus or more all day long. I strongly advise against OP to sell it. I do not believe you can find any newer GT3/RS for a good deal.

^ +1 on that.
Beautiful car, and tracking doesn't mean its been abused (probably more attention to maintaining it as a matter of fact- and this one looks great). GLWS

With this attitude you'll be prospecting for quite some time.
