It is an antique and an awesome one.

I will have a pdks in the garage after I get a couple more air cooled additions. But I see no point of having multiple "latest things" in the garage. The older cars. All have a very different character. The newer 991 cars although very fast feel a bit insulated and sanitized to me.

You are so right. New cars too generic and character has been engineered out. Unfortunately air cooled market silliness is completely out of control with no end in sight. Just picked up an antique from a different marque: 1988 BMW e24 M6. Former concours car, all original, and 80,000 miles. A Shark back in my garage.....

seriously... I that car cracks 150K I will be shocked.. No clue what they are using to base estimate.. Mecum is more American Classic cars from what I have seen.. not to say they won't represent anything. I guess I am the weird one here... If I could sell my RS and only come out of pocket about 40K- 50K and get into new 991 RS I would in a heartbeat... Don't hate me... But really..

Since this is, kind of, a .1 GT3 RS price thread. What is a acceptable price to pay for a .1 GT3 RS? and do the color have anything to do with the price?

997.1RS is $125-200k

orange tend to sell faster then black, white or silver.

Green fetches a premium.

Yup pretty much. The range variety is no different than what you see i the air cooled world where a 3.2 carrera can range from 25-100k+

Ironically, maybe, orange is the most common color. Silver, white, black tend to command about same $ condition for condition, then orange, then green.

yup the range is nuts and i can't seem to find a rhyme or reason to it, i wish I had a 7.1RS, any color is okay with me

As for the auction, wasn'tt there a post for a green 1.RS a while ago and we thought it was nuts it would go over 200K, and it actually did, and it still had aftermarket parts on it? The main thing is these auction companies know how to advertise and get the word out. not all would be RS owners are active on the forum, so getting the word out is what can bring the prices up, espcially at monterey.
