Question high mileage 2010-11 997 turbos

Does anyone have advice or warnings about purchasing a higher mileage 997 turbo? I am looking at a couple cars with 87 -91k miles, but I am hesitant to pull the trigger. Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

I am not there yet, but I have 53,000 miles without any problems. Just the usual maintenance. I am sure there are some cars with that mileage whose owners will chime in. I would make sure all the maintenance and service is update and do a PPI.

Yeah, I'm just pushing 49k on my 2011 TTS Cab, but it's running great, no issues. Dealer replaced the HPFP right before I bought it, and that was a fairly costly repair. Not sure of how common that is for this model. Seems they are extremely robust platforms for the level of performance on tap. I know we have some higher mileage owners here......

I bought a 2009(different engine than 2010-11) with 33k miles al little over 2 years ago. It now has 62k and just the usual maintenance and a couple common repairs(water pump and cv joint boot), I plan to keep mine for a long time and a lot of miles.
Regular maintenance is very important.

I bought my 08 911TT cab last fall with 69K miles. I bought it for a lower price knowing that it needed some work but the car ran fine. I had the engine pulled and gone completely through having the water pipes replaced with BBI welded pipes, metal Sharkwerks elbows, all new rubber hoses, replaced water pump, belt, coolant tank, aux water pump, plugs and coil packs, Did the transmission (TIP) and AWD controller fluid serviced and replaced a CV boot. Had to replace the windshield due to the rear view mirror mount detaching from the windshield this summer but the car is now sorted.

I expect to see many trouble free miles for many years to come.

I've had a 944 turbo for over 30 years and have put over 150K mile on it and have been impressed with how trouble free the car has been with servicing the regular maintenance items. This experience gave me confidence to buy a higher mileage Porsche.

If you do the maintenance I have found VAG vehicles to be extremely durable:

VW 16V Scirocco - 150K (before it was hit and totalled)
Audi Coupe Quattro - 350K before being sold
Audi UrS6 - 280K - still driving
Audi V10 S6 - 212K - Still driving
Audi A4 USP - 240K - Still driving
Porsche 997.1 - 56K - Still driving

I have replaced various parts of the cars and done some major maintenance (pulled the V10 and the 997 engines for hoses/seals/etc), but as long as you maintain these drivetrains they should treat you well for many many miles.

Thanks for the feedback! Hopefully a few more Turbo owners chime in. I currently own the 964 Turbo. It has been a great car with no major issues for a 27 year old car, but it's time to add another toy to the garage. Thanks again!

My 2010 TT has 61k miles and no major issues. I had to replace the alternator due to a noisy bearing but nothing major beyond that except normal service. Previous owner service records and inspection show a leaky valve cover gasket and muffler replaced under warranty and the front CV boots replaced. Can't imagine why the muffler was replaced.

IMO Porsche hit it out of the park with the 997.2 turbo engine (along with it's NA cousin in the Carrera). Reliability is fantastic, TT stock performance is great, and there are plenty of tune options. Provided the car had regular service I would not have concerns with those miles. However, it is at the age/miles where things start to wear out and upkeep can be costly if you are paying someone to do it, particularly a dealership. If you DIY and shop around for OEM parts it's not bad at all.

Pic taken this morning before a coffee run (just lucky with the even number).

2011 TTS bought in 2018 with 68,000 miles. No issues other than cracked diff seal replaced during fluid change. Had all fluids and filters replaced after purchase. Just regular maintenance since then. Daily driver, road trip fun, and errand car. Just a pleasure to drive every time I turn the key, regardless of destination.

That's getting your money's worth and exactly why I bought a mid-mileage car with nearly 43k on it (now 49k 11 months later). I plan to drive the wheels off it - who am I saving it for? I paid for it. I'm going to enjoy it as much, and as often as I can.

Bought my 997.2 Turbo PDK for 88k Canadian with 100k kms or 62k miles, After 1 year it's at 68k miles or 110k kms. Daily driven with a cobb stage 1 tune through snow and ice and salt. I have winter tires on it. PCCBs never changed. Still have lots of life. CV boot joints replaced on my ownership, fuel tank valve, oil change. Currently presenting with a p0016 code. Also I bought 3year warranty/60k kms
