do you have to approach the switch based on motivation and reasons. If your thought is to drive this a lot and put 50 to 100,000 miles on it stick with your 997.2.

if in the back of your mind you have some collectible reasons and see this as just a weekend fun car that might accumulate 1000 miles a year then GT two is your best bet. I think production numbers are important but worldwide 997.1 GT to production is approximately 1250 with about 220 in the North American market. My 2009 was one of 25 in North America. GT2 has the legendary mezger. And a GT car will always hold more value than a non-GT car.

GT two is much more playful, more purposeful in stock form and much more of an event. There was always something in the back of your mind that you thought “this car can hurt me“. That’s what made it fun. When I drive my 930 and in the back of my mind I think of the widow maker moniker, the GT two is the best modern interpretation of the widow maker If it’s outright speed I’m sure any of the turbos are easy to tune with a flash they can out run a GT 2.

if you like your 997.2 turbo you will definitely like the GT two. I also always thought the rear wing was better executed and I really dislike the fog lights on the turbos and thought the front facia of the GT two was better.

if values are hovering around 200 I think it’s a good entry point because I just don’t see those cars dropping as they are all trading around MSRP right now. I’ve been following the 2009 market for GT two as I like the upgraded interior and besides my car I’ve only seen one other car trade publicly in the last three years

i’m not as familiar with production numbers for 997.2 turbo manuals but those are technically still just turbos….Then I can always remember looking for a 997 turbo, whether it’s a six speed car or whether it’s a automatic that was always annoying, dealers listing their automatics as 6 speeds to get more traffic…..With GT 2 it only came one way

Either way they’re all outstanding cars first world problems as they say
Thanks for your perspective! Just what I was looking for. I love the 997 widebody and feel like the GT2 is the best iteration. Definitely a keeper. Maybe 1-2K miles per year due to other projects, family, etc. I guess I picked the wrong time of year to think about selling mine, but we'll see...

If I am not mistaken, the 2010/2011 TT (with 6MT) sold fewer units than the 2009 GT2, so your current car is actually more rare.

I believe there were 188 North American GT2s in 2008 and only 25 in 2009. I've also read 185 and 20, respectively. They made 488 6-speed Turbos from 2010-2013. So both rare, but the GT2s have it.

I'd suggest posting it in the 997 GT3/GT2 Cars for Sale thread. You'll get more eyeballs there.

Just imported mine from Ottowa into the US and it was relatively painless. If any US buyers are interested, happy to help. GLWS.

Thanks for the input everyone. I will try to make time this week to take pictures and post here for sale before going to an auction like BaT.

Thanks for the discussion. I too have pondered the same so the long read was so worth it. Keep us posted on where you land. Also I posted the latest market with a link that will profile the cars that have sold and those that have not. It came out today so it is recent if you want to research pricing your car.
Cheers, Mike

Good luck. My car was accepted by BAT a few weeks ago, should be live in a few weeks.

They are quiet backlogged from what I can tell.

Ok...likely not turning back now - just listed my car in the Marketplace: https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1273064

We'll see how this goes! If anyone is interested, don't hesitate to reach out.

Good luck! Looks like a well sorted car that has been loved and well maintained. If I know anyone in the market I will pass this along.

Down the line if you decide you want to pull the DSC module out for a side sale send me a PM I would be interested.

I just sold my TTS on BaT and suggest you start the listing process ASAP. I used their $349.00 (easy, virtually painless) sales process (BaT provides professional photos and writes the description) and it still took over two months to get it listed. If you delay I don't think you want your beautiful car listed over the holidays so you should start quickly (JMO). I also think you'll get more than your asking on BaT vs. Rennlist because you're tipping your hand early on what you'll take. I also kept my TTS for sale on Rennlist until BaT asked me to remove it (all I did was $0 the price and mark it sold). GLWS

Thanks for the insight. How did the photography component work? How local is the photographer and how do they pick a spot to shoot?

Wow, two months is quiet a while.

I just went through the process, and from initial contact to listing going live (this week) it took less then a month.

I could have closed this by another week, but it took me some time to get them all the photos.
