Just curious for those saying the C8 is ugly - have you seen the Z06 version? I wholeheartedly agree the C8 Stingray is ugly, but the Z06 is a huge improvement on most of its issues. The terrible square exhaust pipes are gone, and the rear is significantly improved in general with the big square plastic bits reworked, among other things, and the addition of a wing. The side is way better too, with the side intake that's just stuck on the base car reworked so it's much more cohesive with the rest of the design. I'm still not a fan of the hood creases and how it comes to a point, but even the front has been improved with the details around the bumper and the intakes.
I thought the Stingray was really disappointingly ugly, but I could see myself in a C8 Z06.

Three Wheelin'
Like every new shinny object it will significantly drop in value and its uniqueness and desirability will quickly fade due to GM's historic profit motivated over production. Look at the large number of C8's already for sale on Carmax and elsewhere vs the very low number of 911's and you'll quickly see that slightly used C8's are not selling whereas older 911's are. That should tell you something about the market, past, present and future. Perhaps the C8 is a good car but IMO, it has no future collectability, does not retain its value, is of perhaps questionable build quality, is mass produced, is not unique, and is quickly becoming just another Corvette among many in the herd. Keep your 911, it doesn't have any of the negatives I mention above.

For how I drive and where I drive, anything over 500hp is too much. Tight backroads, not wanting to get speeding tickets, etc. But I have a 997 GT3 and would say most 997 Turbo's are approaching too much for the street too. Everyone likes something different, I know plenty of guys enjoying 700-800hp cars on the street. Just not for my driving style. 2.6 0-60 for the C8 Z06 would be too quick for me. A 997.1 Turbo, stock, with a 6 speed at least slows things down slightly when you have to shift.

I'd take the C8 Z06 (if first year at MSRP), but hold on to the Turbo until you have some miles on it...
I took delivery of a C8 Z51 this past January (also an MSRP slot), but after a few months, realized it didn't replace either my 991 Turbo or 996 Turbo and sold it.
I think it would have been a great car had I not been spoiled by the 911 Turbos which are just very hard to top.

just saw Leno video on Z06. have to say, i like it.. Would not replace a TT for it, but I would get it as an addition. This is the last of american v8s, same with CT5-v .. They will be instant classics very soon

I actually ended up putting in an order for a CT5 BW but who knows with all the delays.
