Default Keep the 997tt or get the c8 Z06?

I’m still enjoying my 07 911 turbo coupe 6 speed, it has great steering feel, enough power for me and rowing your own gears never gets old. The car is in great condition and still has relatively low mileage at 36k. I’ve had the car for around 5 years but I didn’t think I would sell it anytime soon. After snagging a decent reservation spot(late first model year) at msrp for the c8 Z06, it has me rethinking that I should sell the 911. There is no comparison in terms of performance between the 2 but in terms of driving experience as a weekend car on the streets will I be missing the analog steering feel and rowing my own gears? I will likely occasionally track the Z06 but im not a track rat. I have some seat time in a C6 Z06 and it is a beast but the overall street driving experience doesn’t compare to the 911. Also where do you see the price of my 911 going over the next 2 years? It has appreciated almost 25% over the past few years but it’s not a ultra low mileage or rare 911. Will the 911 prices fall back down soon?

Pretty much all used cars have gone up 25% over the past year. Get the the z06 and drive the hell out of it, and get the 997tt into the hands of someone that will do the same to it. 36k and you've had it 5 years, poor car. Seriously tho given the demand for the c8 if you can get an early z I'm guessing in 2 years you'll still be at msrp in the used market for it. That z is going to be a better car then the 997tt in every measurable way.

997T Manual cars with less than 40K miles are extremely desirable right now. I do not know if your car is stock but obviously if you are on this forum you know you can make your car outperform a C8 Z06 for far less money than replacing your car and then taking the huge depreciation that all Corvettes suffer. The 997 has a timeless design and the C8...well let's be honest; it does not.

I know I'm in the minority and I know this wont be helpful but what the heck its a forum. I am not a fan of the C8 design. To me Vettes are front engine cars, I get the new deisgn is superior but I hate it. But opinions are like a$$ holes we all have them.

On the contrary the 997TT is so beautiful to look at and is such a timeless deisgn. I guess it depends, do you want all the new tech or a timeless classic that is fun to drive?

Unfortunately the C8 is fugly just like the C7. I use to own a C3 now that's a different story. Also the C8 is huge... just too big. Yes, its a supercar but its got no soul. IMHO

I respect the c8z, but I prefer the 997 turbo. I've never been one to chase numbers though. I'm sure the Z will be extremely capable and put down big numbers. The lack of a manual means that it's just not a hugely desirable car for me. I'd rather have a gt4 if I was going new Porsche vs new Z. Having written that, I would never fault anyone for going the other direction. I do think the Z will sound substantially better than our car, stock for stock.

if you want a second opinion, ask your same question over on the C8 vette forums

I tell everyone I am impressed with the C8. prior to it, what were your choices for a modern high performance mid-engine V8?

FWIW, if I were still a track rat, I would rather have the c8 z06 over the 997tt

c8z06 will be the shiny new toy for cars and coffee

otherwise, for a long term all around keeper car, the 997TT is probably the better choice.

I still regret selling my 1983 930. I don’t regret selling my 2008 Z06.

No clue on prices. Cars to me are for enjoyment. Typically things you enjoy will cost something along the way. My guess is that even if prices went down, it wouldn't be less than what you paid five years ago.

Regarding driving experience, I'd keep the 997. I think the C8 Z06 will be too quick to really enjoy on the street. In a sports car, I want a manual. I don't get bored when driving it that way. I am also relatively brand loyal to Porsche.

680hp (crank) I don’t think that’s too much for the street

By just comparing a 12yrs old car to a 2021 model year car said it all.

Carreras are like nothing else it’s good on the streets, it’s good on the track, it’s a comfortable daily driver, it’s sexy as hell and the list of goodies goes on 911’s as much as they are useable they are timeless.

with no disrespect to the c8 I guess in 2 to 3 years time it will start to become a bit old fashioned where as the 997 will keep its glow

Maybe try upgrading to a 997.2 tts or a 991 tts I think you’d enjoy one of those more
