Is Turbo Pricing Dropping?

worldwide production of 997 is near 25K... approx 19K are mezgers and the balance are DFI. 4 to 1 ratio doesn't give me the confidence that Mezger alone is enough as a value proposition.
Kinda like the real estate broker in Pasadena telling me that I should bid 5% of ask to compete against all of the "other" supposed 23 cash bidders....whilst we are looking down the barrel of another 4 or 5 interest rate hikes and all the other crap going on in the current administration and not to mention some guy named Putin.

I have to agree, particularly when you consider the Mezger engine was in both the 996 and 997.1 Turbos.....crikey, that's over 40,000 units! That's a ton of supply.

Let's face it... the 997 harks back to the air cooled 993....and of course the 993 is really the final version of the "real" turbo that was the 930. So saying that a particular engine is the hallmark of a model is kind of rediculous..... and if you really want to talk about a final "it" engine... well then I would have to say the 4.0 DFI in the GT4 with it's 9K redline would be my vote as the "last" of an engine... turbo or not.
the 997 will be the last of the truly analogue 911 and the DFI .2 car is the final rendition. The .2 cars are far more than minor cosmetics... so when you talk about softening prices then you really have to drill down a lot farther than the surface... production numbers (if that is your sort of thing), option lists..(some if not most cars were around $145K which is completely different than a $175K S or first edition 2010 loaded up like a S for $175K (they didn't call it per-say first edition but on my builid sheet/window sticker it had a designation), Cabriolet or Coupe, and of course Paint to Sample.
They all will soften here until we have an election, Putin is addressed, and or gas prices come down... the bottom line is if you see a special car then I would offer 10% lower and at see where it goes. But make no mistake... you must be vigilant on understanding what you are buying and what options the car has.. don't fall for the simple 997 Turbo blanket "bubble", Mezger cliche, or even the venerable MT. I even wouldn't be hungup on a manual vs PDK or even for $40K less a tiptronic! Find one that fits your budget and don't overpay... All of them are fabulous.

$129K for a very attractive 997.1 I stand corrected…. For the moment it still looks quite strong.

If talking about 6-speed coupes, I believe there were fewer than 300 delivered to the United States in 2009. Certainly low numbers for 2009, but I do think the 997.2 6-speed cars are even lower production numbers since the PDK was introduced with the 997.2 and that seemed to be the preferred transmission for those years. There will always be the Mezger vs DFI engine debate but I think it will always come down to production numbers, and the market seems to prefer the 997.2 manuals over the 997.1 and even ‘09 997 manuals.

Wow this is the lowest price I have seen for a while. 2007 TT tiptronic with only 56K miles on it and clean no accidents sold for only $67K a few days ago.
This is like 2018/2019 pricing. What a great buy for this unit.

I have been on the lookout to purchase a 997 Turbo and notice in the month of March they are selling for a lot less than what we have seen in the last 3 months.
Examples from Bring a Trailer:
Mar-19-2022: Turbo 2007 6spd Coupe, 38K miles sold for $104K
Mar-16-2022: Turbo 2007 6spd Coupe, 30K miles sold for $103K
Mar-12-2022: Turbo 2007 Auto Coupe, 29K miles sold for $80.5K
Mar-8-2022: Turbo S 2011 PDK Coupe, 39K miles sold for $97K
Mar-6-2022: Turbo 2008 6spd Coupe, 64K miles sold for $93K
The 6spd seems to fetch an average of around $100K and auto/PDK fetches for an average of $88K. A difference of $12K between 6spd and auto.
I wonder if this is just an off month or do you guys think the prices are coming down or that is the going market in the past while?
