Question PCCM Plus Question

I have a question for anyone who has replaced the original PCCM in their 997.1 with the Porsche produced PCCM Plus. I have been told that the radio reception of the PCCM Plus is not nearly as good at the reception of the original PCCM. I would like to hear from those who have replaced the original unit with the Porsche produced replacement. Thanks.

if you don’t get much feedback here, i would encourage you to try this query again in the 997, non turbo forum thread on this unit. there have been pages and pages of commentary on the unit there.

I had it installed and the radio reception was bad. Researched on line. There is something that had not been used or connected. My guy did it in no time and it works fine. In apologize that this isn’t more helpful but it is an installation error. I think I may have found the discussion in the 997 threads

if memory serves, when installing the PCCM+ on a US spec car, you have to disconnect and bypass a factory antenna cable module located behind the carpet where the passenger's left foot rests. This is part of the excellent PCCM+ instructions developed here on RL. Its a pity porsche did not include installation documentation. Ill bet this is the issue for anyone having reception issues.

Here's a link to the more concise installation guide that covers a number of issues, including poor FM reception.

From the 997 Forum page...

consensus is yes, but you will probably have to wait a couple more years until the .2 is considered a "classic"
