Default Optional OEM Red Tail Lights Installed

Thought I'd post up a picture of these on a black Turbo for posterity as I couldn't find many when I was researching these. My driver's side mounting tab was broken off somehow, so I went ahead and bought these new.

It has been over a year now with my first Porsche and it has been a total joy. I even upgraded to the Sport Design Steering wheel with the paddle shifters which I think is a nice, but a bit spendy of an upgrade. Cool that it will work (with a new module and programming) with the TipTronic. You can see it peeking out in the photo (went with Black and a suede dash mat as I was trying to reduce the dash glare from the sand beige dash.)

Anyhow the tail lights:

I like 'em too esp. on the black/dark cars - can't rationalize swapping mine at this point though. Thanks for sharing the visual!

Cheers,

The OEM red tails are the only way to go on the 997.1 Turbo. Nice!

I think the OEM red tails are the best looking option on the 997.1.

The OE solid reds are definitely the best looking tail light for the 997.1. I loved mine when I owned a 997.1 turbo.

what's the story with the solid red tail lights? Were they OE on all the .1's, or was it an option to go all red or the red/white?
I see roughly equal of both styles. Is the all-red "OE correct" or are either style considered correct on a .1?
When I bought my GT2, it came with red/white, but as you can see from my profile photo of my car two owners previous at Sharkwerks in 2014, it had all red tails

The red/white tail light lenses were standard on the 997.1 cars. The solid red tail lights were a factory option. Both are considered “correct”.

I've always been a sucker for the optional tail lights. I had solid reds on my 997 and I’ve got the factory optional clear tail lights on my 991.

Default Taillights

I personally think it ages the car towards the 996.. I get it but for me i prefer the 997.2 optional LEDs.

Those appear to be aftermarket LED lights made by Depo. From what I’ve heard, Depo makes a good quality product. This cannot be said about all aftermarket tail lights.
