Default help needed

Hello guys, this my 2nd post here as i posted sme thread over the general 997 forums. however, i am looking for some help!

I just installed a Fabspeed sport cats + straight pipes. i like the roaring but its LOUDDDD which is not my cup of tea! but the story behind my post is that the car lost to much power?!? even the boost wouldn't reach 1.0 bar anymore, even if sport mode activated!

another thing happened as well, which is if i go for few runs the car response becomes bad and the car is super slow (1st and 2nd gear are barely acceptable, but 3rd gear especially when the RPM hits 4000, omg please come push the car) .

could it be possible that i didn't drive the car for 3 months? and then installed the exhaust even before i run the car after the long park?

your input is much appreciated,

Ahmad

Could it be an exhaust leak? That would cause both a very loud car and a loss of boost pressure.

The possibilities for loss of power include:

1)boost hose from turbo to intercooler is loose
2)boost hose from intercooler to intake is loose
3)exhaust is loose at the header/turbo

now if your exhaust was loose after the turbine, there would be excess noise, but there should not be any loss of power. The turbine is going to spin even more quickly if there is a leak aft of the turbine/cat interface

Just take a look under the car, should see the problem right away. A bunch of guys have the fabspeed stuff with zero problems, my bet is on the install.

Something is wrong. We have sold and installed many of these exhaust. I have dyno results and have the system on my own personal car and it makes plenty of power. Take it back to your installer. They have done something wrong.

can it be something with the ECU and that the airflow changed? or the biggest possibility which is a leak and the ecu is not delivering correctly because of that leak?

I will be in the office today if you would like to give me a call to discuss this problem. Many guys are running this same setup without any problems as PorschephD mentioned. It sounds like something is wrong with the install. I would like to get this resolved for you as quickly as possible.

hey Jeremy, whats up? I tried calling you today but i was told that you didn't go to the office. anyhow, i took the car back the dealership today. They told me that car was running fine until the exhaust was installed! now they will do some testing on the car. 1st they will put the factory exhaust back on and then see the boost, cut off etc...if everything is back to normal then it most be the after market exhaust, could be a default in the system? everything is possible! but if that hold back and loose of power still occur even after putting the factory exhaust on they will have to figure that problem out.

ooh by chance one of the guys who work at the Porsche workshop saw me driving my car and he told me that black smoke was coming out of the exhaust! is this normal?

no, black smoke is usually too much fuel, bet a boost hose is hanging off.

Def. sounds like improper install. Tell them they need to speak to Jermey or someone at FABSPEED Personally.

Hey Ahmad, Did you ever get to the bottom of this mess? Curious to know what the culprit was.

sorry guys but didn't have an internet access (having fun in Cannes MIPIM) however, i dropped my car at the dealership but i haven't heard anything from them yet!! i might be trading my car for an F430, why do you guys think.

Ext red, int black/red 2005 5000 miles, the guy wants to trade in with me for my 997tt, i would have to pay him $30K? what do you guys think?

If it is a legit deal, I would jump on it. Most 430's are going for much more $$ than that
