Default turbo or gt3

I started looking at the 997 4s and but now have the chance of getting a gt3 at 10 over msrp which puts it in turbo territory.... as much as I love the gt3 I can't come to the conclusion of pulling the trigger. What would you guys get for the similar price point, gt3 or turbo?

I voted turbo, but I will be using it as a touring car. Ultimate decision depends on use.

Agree that it depends on use...if you are not a track guy then there is nothing on this planet better than the turbo.

No question the TT brings you the best of both worlds (GT and track).

GT3 is incredible, but the Turbo is incredible to live with on a daily basis. It all boils down to use my friend.

...now only if I win mega millions tonight......"I'll take BOTH!".

The turbo can do everything the GT3 can and more. I would bet a fair amount of money that in most people's hands, the turbo will be the faster track car

I'm with the other turbo recommendations here ... but I would also add that you should not paid more than msrp on any porsche.

Ask the question in the gt3 forum to see what answer you get.

If you want the car to do the driving.... Turbo

If you want to drive (or learn to )...... the GT3

If you want to learn how to drive, get a car with a manual steering rack, no ABS, bias-ply tires, and perhaps 200 hp max. If you think the GT3 is going to make you any better as a driver then you are overly optimistic

I respectfully disagree.

On this, I know of what I speak.

I would also disagree still. The nannies are not completely removed from the GT3, and it has far too much power to teach a driver the necessity of momentum. The 997 chassis has tamed alot of the rear weight bias demons. It is going to be easier to drive than previous gen 911's, it will turn faster laps out of the box, but does that make it a better teacher than a spec Miata?

My take, without having driven a GT3, is that if you drive a GT3 after a turbo, you will feel that the GT3 is the way to go. The turbo suspension might feel a bit too floaty on the curves- in comparison. Don't get me wrong though, the turbo setup is enough for the street. After a couple of months with a GT3, if you drive a Turbo, you might start appreciating how comfortable it is. You decide which road you want to take, taking into account the costs of course.

I think i'm leaning more towards the turbo too. I guess my main concern is that this is my first porsche and from what I've read the 997 turbo doesn't have that raw porsche feel to it.

It can be raw if you ask it to.
