Some track vids from this past weekend
video from Sat 2nd run session in the 944 turbo
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...75141593&hl=en
video from Sun 2nd run session in the 997tt
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...75921816&hl=en
Bilstein PSS10's felt great at the track. Car was very planted and had great traction despite a very light drizzle, whereas many people were complaining of being loose all over the track. FYI a couple of laps after the video cam dropped I did finally get past the GT3

eclou,
Looks like great fun. I'm gonna put on the bilsteins next month. Any hints for a first-time (suspension) DIY-er? Your previous threads were most helpful. Unfortunately, track season here is over till spring, then I'll see what the improvements will be. I'm psyched, even though first snow due any day now.

Ken, for a first timer I would recommend getting an extra set of hands. See if Mike at AWE can spare you a tech over the weekend for beer money. You need a big pry bar to load the lower control arms enough to allow the struts to be lowered out of the car. You definitely need the tools I mentioned in the install thread as well. I would also consider an impact gun and spring compressors an absolute necessity. In order to remove the front struts, you have to dislocate the front tie rod and the lower control arm ball joints, move the lower control arm ball joint rear of the wheel hub carrier and then rotate the strut out of the wheel well without scratching the fender with the strut studs. It is hard to explain in words, but nearly impossible for just 2 hands to do. Rear is easy
BTW I think Mike mentioned that they only have 2 sets or so left of the PSS10's until spring...

I never tracked my 997Gt3, but I suspect that I would have been faster in the TT. The TT's immense power allows you to compensate for less than perfect lines thru the corners. In that particular video I am really not pushing the corners that hard, and there was a very slight drizzle starting during that session. My 944 turbo is around 350-375 hp and 2700 lbs - very close to the GT3 in power/weight ratio and I can lap about 2 seconds faster in the TT driving 70% than when I drive the 944 at 90%.
