Why so many used 997 Turbos at dealers?
I have noticed that there are a LOT of low mileage 997 Turbos available from dealers. Any theories? Is it just speculators who thought they could make a quick $20K by flipping a car that they thought would be in high demand?

I asked one of the sales guys at a local dealer that exact question. He said that many people who were (are?) buying this car were buying it as a "toy," as their 2nd, 3rd or even 4th car, and either drove it a bit & found they were more comfortable in their Bentley/S-Class, etc and didn't enjoy driving the TT as much as they thought they would, or just found they were never driving it at all in the first place (saving it for that perfect sunny weekend drive that never happened, etc.)

That makes sense but whats wrong with them? I love my turbo dangit always have always will. Sure it might be uncomfortable for long hauls but just looking at it give me chills how sexy this car is. I have alot of people who dont even like porsche telling me how great the turbo is. Matter of fact I feel like going downstairs and getting a spirited ride right now.

Wish Porsche kept a floating inventory for flippers and toy owners. That way the rest of us would not have to wait 7 months for our long term keeper.

I would be a bit wary though since the price range varies from 80k$ to 220k$!!! which doesn't make any sense.
My dealer here (a large one) has 3 coupes and one cab (used), all very close to msrp.

I wondered the same thing. My dealer recently got one returned with 3700 miles. The guy bought it to drive just until the new Audi R8 came in - then he traded it for that so he could have the first one in town. (mistake if you ask me!). With all those available there, I still couldn't find one built just how I wanted mine so I put in an order for one just how I want it. (For that much money, you should get it just right).

That has been the story with turbos through most model yrs, some of the buyers make large and either don't like the car or want the next hot thing after 6 months.

You hit the nail on the head. I bought mine with 3700 miles. Previous owner had one (997tt) coupe on order but wanted to enjoy a car in the meantime. He drove one (now my car) off the lot the day the order was placed and returned it 6 months later when his car arrived. The sales person said he bought a F430 and kept it for 2 weeks....must be nice! At any rate it saved me about $20K $142K MSRP I bought for $122K. Now very happy to be in the 997tt brethren!
