Mod Advise Needed.....Please
OK,,
Spoke with Champion about doing the Exhaust & ECU flash on my car.
They told me that it will be a few weeks for the Tubi,
Since they are on order but I can do the ECU now and exhaust later.
Questions please,,
1. Really worried about Losing my Warranty From The ECU Flash
Champion assures me that my warranty will stay intact, Being that they are doing the ECU flash?? (CAN I REALLY BANK ON THAT??)
2.What potential risk do i run with having the ECU flash ?
If any being that i have a tip car??
I am aware of the risk with a manual car (miss-shifting) how about with a tip??
3.Just doing the ECU without exhaust (What type of HP gains can i expect)
Any Advise Highly Appreciated.......

Don't know much about Champion, but with my ECU flash, I can change it back to stock whenever I need to go for an emissions check. I'm sure you would have to do similar when you went to the dealer for service. If I'm not mistaken, these are not detectable by the dealer as long as you flashed back to the stock program. When the dealer service is done, you will flash it back to the performance file.
I have not done an after-market exhaust so far, and I believe my gain has been about 75 HP. I haven't noticed any negatives with the flash. I can't comment on the tip.

Up until about a year or so ago that was true.
Now the ECU's have non-erasable memories for certain events.
Typically a dealer, especially one like Champion, will "cover" you if you pay up to having them do the work. With a car as yours (very nice I might add) I wouldn't think of having anyone but them do it. The ECU swap is a no-brainer. Exhaust system takes much more time. Which one are you getting? Be careful in a Cab. They can get loud very fast.
Not sure how much power the ECU wil provide, sorry
If you are doing your own work, the best way is to get a new ECU and clone your to it. Then upgrade that one. If there is a problem you swap back the original and all is well.

My understanding is that it is not advisable to do the ECU without the exhaust because of increased exhaust gas temps. The aftermarket exhaust will lower those increased temps.
On the other hand, I had my car tuned and drove it for 2 months before the exhaust and nothing happened so it is up to you.
Good luck.

THANKS,,
Heres Something that just dawned upon me,,
Champion being a mod friendly dealer will honor my warranty...It will be taken to them for service..
But lets say i decide to sell the car in a year or trade it to another dealer.
They will know the car has been flashed and warranty voided??
If thats the case the car will be worth peanuts!!
Maybe i should just do the Exhaust & wheels for know??

usually the best HP gains are from ECU tuning and simultaneous exhaust tuning. porsche themselves has always used one or the other for modest gains around 20-40 hp but for 100hp or more you have to get a full system with an exhaust tuned to your ecu and vice versa.
should be even more fun either way.
- if you sell it to an out of state buyer, the warranty thing might concern them but if it's a local person than the fact that it was a dealer that modded your car shouldn't be any concern. with all the aftermarket options out there producing so many different products (from bumper plugs to new turbos to stereos) it seems like almost everyone has something they want to add to their porsche over the course of ownership. I don't and wouldn't sweat anything done in good taste or with a high quality shop.
