Default 0-60 in 3 seconds - it's been done!

Pretty impressive times to 60 and 100. Looks so easy, it is sort of boring though.

MPH at the end of quarter mile seems somewat low - I would have expected closer to 125 mph.

Nice post of the run and with 2 people in the car.
1 person it will dip into the high 2.9's 0-60mph
That run is without 1 foot rollout like a drag strip so most likely it will see some 2.9's and maybe even some 11.0's with 1 person in the car.
125mph cars usually go 10.8's
Alot of turbo cars that can't leave the line hard and make more power midtrack have higher mph trap speeds.
120 to 122 is about right for consisent power thruout the range 11.1 to 11.2 in 1/4 mile.
My old street strip car would go 0-96.5mph in 7.05-7.12 seconds and and 11.1 in quarter at around 121-122area.
New turbo showed 7.07 0-100mph which is almost the same also.

Yes, increasingly it's looking like we will see sub 3.0 sec 0 - 60 times.

And the run in the opposite direction?!

You know, the one to average out wind assistance....

If all you are interested in is launches from standstill then you can save yourself a packet and get one of these which will do sub-3 secs: http://www.arielatom.com/specs/atom-...61c7ct4a8453f8

Good point.

They didn't try an uphill run on snow chains with a 15% grade either.....

I bet it was programmed into the VBox that way.
Impressive nonetheless!

Looks like it wasn't programed into the VBOX as the car ran 11.0 at 128mph and 6.8 seconds 0-100 in the C/d test.

Some folks always look bored.

Must have done this way to many times.

Most normal folks would have eyes bugging out and huge smile on 0-60 in less than 5 seconds much less 2.9

The trick phrase in that sentence is "normal folks." There's nothing "normal" about these turbo 997.1 owners. They're living in a state of denial about the new turbo.

Plenty of cars can do that. Plenty of honda civics can blow that car away in a drag race without breaking a sweat. I hope this hasn't become the de facto measure of a sportscar in the 21st century - but threads like this don't bode well.

Since when is mashing the go pedal in a straight line and holding on to the wheel, fun? I mean the car is literally doing EVERYTHING for you. You could put a 16 year old girl in that car and it would do exactly the same thing. Between the electronics, transmission, 4wd, etc, the driver has become the equivalent of George Jetson pushing a generic red button. Not what I would call driver involvement. Which in my opinion is the true measure of the "sport" in "sportscar."

So when we watch autoracing, the drivers should all have microphones so we can hear them talk about "involvement." Never mind being the fastest around the racetrack.

I will swallow my dep. At least I can enjoy my boring drives and when I do want to do a little head snapping just kick that German Machine in high gear and away we go
