I don't think that's correct, the non turbo awd cars did have the viscous awd system, but the turbo had the electronic system in MY07.

Thanks for straightening me out! It's the most dramatic difference between the 996 TT and 997 TT cars.

A little confused, would an 08 c4s have the newer electronic system?

Also, on the track, how important is the locking rear diff? Say if you're just doing hpde type events, not actual racing. I understand how it works and why it could be desirable but there's always some new bit of technology every few years so I can live without a few things unless they are key.

so when you snooze, you loose. The TT I was considering has an out of state deposit on it. I was out of town Monday and thought I'd have time yesterday but things got crazy, same today....hours late.

From what I've seen though, there are actually plenty of 07-08 TT coupes out there in 6spd.

How important do people think the locking rear differential is if you really want to hpde track it an average of 6-8 weekends per year? How about club racing?

All the 997 turbos have the electronic 4WD system. Big departure from the 996 T.

Yes, I realize that and thanks for the reply but it's not what I asked. I'm not even talking about any 996 cars.

I asked if all other 997 cars had viscous up until 09 MY? Such as an 08 c4s. I am assuming no. Apparently the 07 TT is the first model to get the elec awd, then the others not until 09? I was hoping maybe another model got it by 08 or something.

I'm also looking at a Targa 4s but it's an 07 and while I may not have cared about the awd system changes if I'd never known, now I know...

I am not after a TT just for the sake of it's name or even the actual Turbos but rather that an 07 TT is more powerful and easier to upgrade than even a new 09/10 c4s and an 07 at least has the better awd system. Aside from that, I'd be happy with a c4s or possible targa 4s. Considering I would at some point be bugging the tech to somehow retrofit the new pcm/nav/bluetooth, I might be smarter waiting for a slightly used 997.2 so all those things are not an issue.

I'm waiting for the 991/998 to come out. Figure I've waiting long as it as, a little longer won't make that much difference. Especially when you look at how much more performance you get when the new models come out. Just look at the leap between the 997.1 and 997.2! We have some turbos running around that get to 60mph in under 3 seconds. That is just plain silly.
