Default 2007 through 2009 - differences?

Hi
Looking to get a 2007/08 TT, possibly an 09 but the price point for me is a bit high. What are the major differences between MY 07 and 08 that would influence my choice ? Have driven both years, just have not found the right color/option mix yet
Thanks
G

Not much b/w 07 and 08, but '09 brought out the fully integrated bluetooth, ipod and xm, and is a far better interface on the PCM if that matters to you.

Thanks Eric - that's really it?
Doesn't seem like it is worth the extra $$ to go with a later year based on the mechanicals

I have to tell ya... the touchscreen PCM, iPhone interface and bluetooth are great in my 09. I sat in an '08 and... it felt dated inside. Although you can't go wrong with whatever you choose...

Alex M - I wish I read your post before buying my 08 I totally agree that my car could use better NAV, IPOD etc At that time, I just couldn't justify paying $20k+ premium.

The Porsche '08 Nav is the most useless piece of electronics I have ever encountered. Except for my wife's MB CLK NAV. You do better with a nice Garmin.

Easier to find a "Border Crossing" than the nearest hospital. I installed the XM kit from the Cayenne myself, and very happy with it.

09 touchscreen and NAV enhancements are WAY better than prior, also integrated bluetooth and ipod is quite nice.

Ipod, bluetooth etc are just a Dension gateway away for 07-08 owners. As for the navi, am not aware of the major differences apart from the touchscreen of course. Drove a 10 Cayenne with the new one and seemed a bit better for sure, but not that the earlier ones were useless!

Were there any updates from 2006-2007?

yes from 996TT in 2006 to 997TT in 2007-2009 (but any model's build date could be in the prior yr.)

The 997TT came out mid '06 right? Any difference between an '06 and '07?

I believe all are 07 even though they came out in 06. Mine was built 11-06 and is a 07 model.

I believe the differences between an '07 model built in late '06 and later in '07 would be little or none ( perhaps more info. on this from others more in the know than me here could contribute). I would expect and differences would be subtle "fixes" if any. There aren't any major problems reported here with any of the earlier builds.

The biggest differences would be in the '09 model with upgraded NAV, Bluetooth. iPod and Sat. Radio connectivity improvements. Many say they are very pleased with the upgraded NAV with touchscreen capabilities vs the older versions. Exterior changes etc. are minimal. HP is same, etc.

The 997 turbo was introduced in June of 2006 as a MY2007. There were roughly 250 released with the first batch. I had one of them. These cars and maybe a few more had aluminum exhaust tips. Many of the first builds did not have the axle-diff lock; mine did as my salesman really worked this for me. There wasn't even an order guide to work from in the very beginning. I had to spec mine from the 996 turbo guide. Before production was complete we learned of the LSD. The later MY2007 builds and on had chrome exhaust tips. I believe as always Porsche was tweaking the suspension through 2008/2009, but nothing we -the consumer- would likely notice without a back to back comparison.

Guys--you're all missing the most important difference between 08 and 09 -- the fully electronic 4WD system. Prior to the MY09 cars the 4WD was a viscous clutch arrangement. The MY09 turbos (and all the 997 AWD cars) now have a substantially more sophisticated AWD system.
