Default 07/08 turbo, realistic price?

I'm looking to pick up an 07 or 08 turbo. I've had a 996TT in the past. New on this forum, but have trolled around a bit, you guys seem to be realistic about the prices of cars (unlike, ehem, the bimmer crowd)

Anyhow. Leaning towards 08 coupe or cab, but would take an 07. Manual is a must and i don't want a base optioned car. I'm not looking to get into this 'cheap'.. Standard options, chrono, etc. What am I looking at price wise?

I've seen a lot of 07's in the 5-10k mile range wanting 90k, but from looking around on here, it seems you guys think thats a bit high.

As you may know, "wanting" $x is not the same as getting it the day you're ready to negotiate and sign....I saw an 07 sell here for $87ish with the mileage range you mentioned.

Paid 93K last July for a mint condition 2007 Turbo with 1800 miles on it, loaded, 6 speed, GT Silver, original sticker was 141K! It took me 7 months to find it, looked or called on about 50 Turbos that were advertised. If you take your time, you can find a good one with low miles between 80-90K. Depends how picky you are Don't buy any car unless you have it inspected and have the diagnostic test done to see how hard it has been driven and how high it has been driven in the 6 ranges on the computer. Good luck!

I just picked up an 07 with 8500 miles and a sticker of 151,000 for 89.5, and added the CPO for another $3000 (it needed new rear tires for the CPO, so it ran a tad more).

So this test would give you a average over the current life of the car?

i agree with the comments you make. buying a cheep car doesn't mean finding one you want. a low mileage 07 or 08 that has been optioned well and which has been taken care of is a lot different from the car that a poster claims that he bought for 75k from a private owner (as it might have 30,000 miles, been treated roughly and is not cpo'd) i think the most important thing is to find a car that you like-the price will then take care of itself.

Hey Doc - I think your advice is right on - find the car you really like and the price will take care of itself. That's a perfect way to put it.

Saw a really clean 2007 Turbo at the Porsche dealership in Newport Beach, CA. Black on Black, manual, 8000 miles, certified, mint condition, asking 93K. I can get more details for you if you want, I am not affiliated with the dealership. Gary in Laguna Beach, CA.

Actually, boys... JUST BOUGHT ONE! woo hoo!!! (pictures will come shortly)

Anyhow. 13,000 miles, 2008, CPO till March of 2014, well optioned, red... Got it for 90k flat. (91k shipped to my door)

Is that the deal of the century? No. Is it a pretty good price for an excellent car? I believe so. I'm happy. :-D

Good for you. I don't know how I can hold on not paying cash for a turbo right now.

It just might be that I know I would be kicking myself if I did sine the performance is greater with the 997.2; and then even for the next generation.

Heard those turbos will be clicking zero to sixty in under three with PDK and CHRONO all day long!

I couldn't justify the price difference between the 997.2 and the 997.1. Sure, its a 3.8 vs. a 3.6, but the 36 is a pretty tried and tested motor. Direct Inject is cool, but, who knows if it has more problems down the line. And for an extra 20hp?

This comparing the latest generation to the previous generation is getting out of hand. When the gen 1 Turbo came out it was the bees knees - so now it's chopped liver? I don't think so - I love my 07 Turbo and don't regret the purchase for one second. The performance of that car is simply phenomenal.

The motor is the last piece of the Porsche racing history to be deleted from the 911 turbo....Too bad, I'm holding on to my 997.1
