Question Almost out of warranty - what to check?

Well, I am at 27,000 miles or so, and my warranty is up in about 6 months. I'm interested in knowing any items to be particularly watchful of for possible replacement/repair under warranty.

Have there been any trends indicating particular parts should be replaced?

My info:

2007 Turbo
27000 miles
AWE exhaust
GIAC ECU

Rest is stock.

Things I've noticed so far:
1) I've had the high-rev at startup (up to 2500-3000rpm for a moment).
2) The struts are starting to feel "softer".

What should I look out for?

Just book the car in for an inspection. An hour should cover it. Mainly you want to verify the car's fluid tight, the cooling system holds fluid and pressure when hot. If coolant low a coolant cap could be leaking or it could be the early stages of a coolant tank leak or even a water pump going bad (leaking).

Check the engine -- from under the car -- for any oil leaks/seeps, check water pump for any signs of leakage. Give a listen to the engine running at hot idle for any noisy idler bearings (or other acessory drives). Check serpentine belt not rubbing due to an accessory drive bearing with excessive play and allowing the belt to mis-track. (The belt's inside edge being sharp when compared to the old belt or even the same belt's outside edge -- was one early warning sign on what proved to be a water pump going out on my 02 Boxster.)

Be sure the tech checks the transmission/drive train for any signs of leaks. My 03 Turbo developed a leak at 30K miles around a selector shaft seal and transmission replaced (CPO warranty car).

Be sure the condensors and radiators and steering rack/etc are free of any signs of fluid leaks.

Absent any untoward behavior or symptoms of obvious troubles that's about all you can do.

Sincerely,

Macster.

Have them check the LSD, they are known to wear, simple to rebuild.

Honestly, if you have a flash on the car, you're already out of warranty for all intents and purposes. But the LSD is the one main thing I'd look at, the rest of the car is indestructible. That's the beauty of a 997tt.1, I'd never keep a new dfi off warranty, still unproven. mine has 57k and I plan to keep it for a good long time.

Yes, I drive it everyday, all weather/track/etc. 100% reliable. I only ever had a cuphholder replaced under warranty.

Speaking about LSD, not D-Lysergic, how easy is it to check the LSD on an AWD car like the Turbo if you can get all the wheels off the ground? I know with the GT3 it is just a matter of raising the rear wheels, having someone hold one wheel in place while trying to rotate the opposite wheel.
