Default Latest Prices on used 997 Turbos

Buying my first Porsche! After a week of studying have decided to go with a 997 Turbo. Price is not a limiting factor, but I want to strike a good balance between price and value.

Besides looking at asking prices on autotrader and bluebook, I'm unsure what I can expect these babies to go for. I found a 2007 with 55k miles that is asking 72,500 (dealer claims it's rock bottom). It seems to be the cheapest 07 based on listed price and I intend to go see it this weekend. Some really low mileage 07's are listing 78-99, and 08's are in the 99-106 neighborhood. The difference between those two years seems negligible.

I haven't ruled out buying 09/10 but for over 30k more with higher depreciation, I would have to be very confident it's worth the upgrade.

Any advice or info on going prices and selecting one would be much appreciated, thanks!

When you look for such a vehicle ...it is almost always regrettable to buy the lowest priced one on the market unless you personally know and trust the seller....and newer is always better

Thanks, I'm not exactly looking for the cheapest, I'm just trying to know how much negotiating leverage I have.

For example. I have found some non-CPO's 2007 Turbos with as low as 10k miles for around 79k. Vs one like this that is CPO, 55k miles, for 72k.

Can you add CPO to a 07? I think I would be skeptical with a car with higher mileage, I am sure there are )7s CPO'd out there with less miles. Cant help you with pricing sanity check tho, I am on the other side of the pond...

Kpr16, I have just bought a 09 997 Turbo, so I've been all over this market. I ended up buying a 2009 Blk/Blk w 6K mi for a little under 106K. Prices vary a lot. I would recommend lower mileage, just so much more in demand and easier to resell. I think the cars are mostly bullet proof. I think fair prices for a 10-15K mi 07 would be mid 80's. I really think low- mid 90's for a 08.
I went w/ the 09 because of the factory XM and Bluetooth. I have a 09 Cayenne Turbo with it and really use it a lot. I started thinking I would buy a 07, but stretched to get the newer equip.
I also think Black seems to get a bit of a premium, and odd colors can be had for a bigger discount.
As always w/ any cars, the longer you wait the cheaper they get. The new 911 comes out in the next year or so, which will drive prices down a bit too.

Also, I learned from here to avoid any car w/ mods. The sellers think they are great and valuable, But people who have purchased some of these Modified cars have had some problems. Also, I was pricing manual transmission only. The tip's are less money, usually.

Regardless of the year, I would go with CPO. If you get lucky you may be able to find a great priced private party and take it to Porsche dealership for CPO. It's a bit of PIA, but basically the seller sells the car to Porsche and the dealer sells it back to you with CPO. Of course, it'll cost you $2-$3 + dealer fees.

These cars are pretty much bulletproof. I have 24k miles on my modded 08 turbo cab with zero problems.

I went with an 08, just under 10k miles, cabriolet, covered with CPO&Factory through 2014/100k. For anyone looking, I got this for 97k but probably could have done better if I had more patience to walk or was willing to fly to other regions to get one. Love the black w red interior. I'll snap some pics soon and maybe sign up for a membership so I can post. It has bluetooth and an iphone hook up which I imagine was put in after, but did not have sports chrono. I'll like mod slightly, but first need some time to really bond of course. Glad to be a part of the Porsche family!

If price isn't a barrier look for a low mileage car, a 997 with 55k is way too many miles. You are in the mid 80's on an 07 but if you can swing the extra dough it may be worthwhile for updated electronics on an 09. I don't think there is much difference other than electronics on the 09 vs. 08 and 07. I love mine but having XM, ipod input and better nav would be a nice to have.
