Default Clutch - What Is The Go To Clutch Nowaday?

My '07 997 TT is in the shop with a suspected clutch problem--essentially, I have noticed recently that my clutch engagement position is much higher than before (ie clutch engages at about 90% release of clutch pedal). I have also noticed that at times, when starting from a stop, when I let out the clutch there is a 1-2 second delay before it engages and then finally grabs and gos.

My car:

07 997TT
32,000 miles
GIAC Tune (on since 15000 miles)
AWE Exhaust (on since 15000 miles)
Daily Driver
Stock Clutch
3 Track Days

I have a feeling that my OEM clutch is history and I may need to replace it. Given my GIAC tune and exhaust upgrade, I think I need to go with an aftermarket clutch/pressure plate, so I would like to hear the collective advice.

What is the go to clutch nowadays? (Sach?)
Who is the go to vendor?

Can you confirm that most likely I can stick with my OEM flywheel?

I would send a PM to RL member Kevin ... He can offer some professional insight.

I believe most go to an upgraded Sachs or Clutchmasters. If you plan on modding any further, you'll need to upgrade the clutch and pressure plate . No need to switch to a single mass flywheel unless you like the annoying chatter.

I have two offerings for the turbo. If you want to retain your dual mass flywheel the cost is $1,645.00

Moving over to the single mass GT3RS LWFW kit is $1,975.00

Clutchmasters modifies new Sachs pressureplate in all of my kits to add more clamp force.

What mods have you done so far and estimated torque? My clients seem to be happy with the Sachs but its all about having the right parts for the right application and for exactly how you drive the car. Make sure you get a Pressure Plate for the amount of TQ you have and the right disc for the style of driving such as daily driving with some DE's or drag racing.

For what it's worth if your also looking for a lower and more consistant engagement point look into the GT2 slave conversion.

Just to update this thread for future reference --

Mechanic found a leak in the slave cylinder. After replacing the slave cylinder (under warranty), the clutch functions fine.

So, I have a new clutch sitting on the shelf for future use.

If the slave went the accumulator will be next.
