Default Which ECU Tune do you have?

I wanted to draw on your vast experience. Which ECU tune did you go with? Are you happy with your choice?

For the 80% of my driving that involves school zones and local traffic, none.

For the 20% that is back roads or annual 2500 mile road trips, the budget goes to gas and tires.

If I ever did get a tune/exhaust, I would take the recommendation of the local guy, Sharkwerks.

I have no local guys. I am in the middle of nowhere.

Those who chose "other", what do you have? Do you like it?

Cowhorn, please feel free to give me a call.

This thread has a impact on this topic.

This allows you to flash your ECU right from your laptop. However, the greatest function is seeing in real time what you engine is doing. Adjustments can be applied to your tune. I am working on a AUTO-tune feature that will self correct the fueling and timing maps.

I had Evo MS on my C4S and was very pleased with the results when combined with headers, exhaust and sport cats from Fabspeed. However, on my 2011 turbo which arrived today I will probably wait and see. The stock performance on 997 turbos is so impressive that I see a role for ECU modifications only in the setting of track use or street "bragging rites." The idea of 600 hp during daily use is a bit absurd unless you feel the need to crush just about anything else out there 0 to 60. I do believe that there is a fair amount of cushion built into the stock ECU and a minor change is probably nothing to worry about, however, big hp gains come with some substantial risks. I don't care what anyone says about the dealer catching on during warranty coverage; you are going to be sick if you have a major failure that is related to poor software testing. Go with a major player that can demonstrate rigorous vehicle testing and hundreds of installs that have been problem free. Porsche has proven they know what they are doing in this area (albeit conservative) and there are only a couple houses such as those listed above that have any standing to claim years of experience and comprehensive testing. I noticed that Ruf and Champion were left out as choices above, however, I can't recall if they do their ECU mods in house or out source it to one of the others.
Let us know if you do make a change and your thoughts on the result so all of us can be the wiser.

I love my giac tune
Totally transformed the car
Very stock feeling when around town but hit the gas and it's what a sports car should feel like!
I've never heard or read about anyone disliking any flash though so pick one and enjoy!

600hp on the street is fun. My turbo is stock and will probably stay that way. I do have a couple of 600hp cars. My SL65 is an every day driver.

997.2 turbo has more power then GT2 just a couple of years ago. How much power one needs? Best tune is a custom tune to your typical weather, altitude, humidity and octane of the gas available to you. The later is the most important parameter. Enjoy your car for what it is already capable of doing.

I have used EVO in the past and would use them again. Ill be keeping an eye out for EVO to get a RS 4.0 and see if there is anything left to squeak out of it.
