I have been thinking very hard about something like that, but on the paddle shift wheel. But it turns out to be expensive. Could put that cash towards a flash... and that seems like a no brainer decision.
Something beefier to hold and look at, or something to be more eager to floor it with?

So I am thinking of passing on the wheel for now... Love the all black look Tom. Nice choice. Let us know how the install goes.

Yeah I thought long and hard about spending this kind of money on a wheel but I could not stand the thin carbon wheel I had and the triangular airbag. I had a 2013 S4 for a short stint and found myself wanting to buy the car just for the steering wheel. If you think about it it's one thing you interface with all the time while driving so... I did it. I agree though better putting the money towards something more meanigful unless you have already have something meaningful

Bottomline- I have issues.

Please let us know all the details. I have the wheel in your pic and really miss the multi-function wheel I have in other cars.

Lol, so true

Btw Tom, I agree the oem multifunctional wheel on the 997.1 is not a true sports wheel, much too thin and the slick CF makes it difficult to handle at times. I remember one of the things I loved about my M3 was the thick steering wheel

Look forward to seeing it on your car

Okay so a bit of background before the install.

Parts ordered: Note I had to buy a standard wheel with the grey face because for whatever reason a black wheel already assembled with black MF was almot 1200 more??????

997-347-803-51-A34 - black wheel with grey face
997-613-463-01-5Q0 - multifunction black face
997-803-089-12-A34 - black airbag in leather not leathertte
997-613-289-01- steering control module

So I did a dry run on my car and I ran into an issue where the multifunction controls were not enabled but illuminated. Reason being is the incompatibility of the 997.1 module with the 997.2 wheel. Even tried disabiling/reanabiling it in PIWIS, no luck. So if you're adding the 997.2 wheel and want multifunction capability you'll need a new control module. You can read details on coding in the thread, thanks Minok! Pic attached of the control module as well.

I thought hard about the multifunction when I spec'd my car. Sat in one with, one without.

Because I already have a Tip for medical reasons, decided against adding more complexity to the wheel with shift buttons. I can do all the mf functions without taking my eyes off the road.

Got the thicker steering wheel and love that part.
