It's a ridiculous waste of time, money and effort.
But it is silly fast and gets stared at everywhere it goes.

That was midlife crisis #1. The TT was supposed to be #2, especially since I searched so long for the color I wanted, but like the title says I guess I'm never satisfied...

If after driving a 997 Turbos S, you decide it's WAY better than your 996 TT, then I'd STRONGLY consider that you sell your 996 TT for the 997 Turbo S. In my opinion and I'm totally biased, the looks, interior, and hotness factor of the Turbo S outweigh everything over your current Porsche. Just... everything. If you can't afford the upgrade to the Turbo S, I'd forgetaboutit and just enjoy your current car.

My neighbor had a mint 2002 996 TT and it was super nice but in every way, I much preferred the 2012 car I got about a year ago instead. But, there was a serious dollar price premium between the two of course.

If I couldn't I wouldn't be looking at them. I don't finance toys.

The 14TT was right at the top of my bring it home and not become a statistic if my wife found out range, otherwise with money so cheap I'd be all in on a discounted 16TTS and depreciate the hell out of it as a DD. A decent 12 I can probably manage.

That's not me trying to be an *** - I work for a living - but cars are my crack...

I jumped from a 996.2 C2 to my 997.2 TTS... although my 996 was not a Turbo, the interior was the same. Really fun car but the 997.2 is big jump from the 996.2 overall as John indicated. As all have said it's all about what you feel is good and right for you.

I had a stock TR250 - most people aren't familiar with the car at all. It was my first "Sports Car" and I loved it. Had it from 1973-1975 and paid $1800 for it. Wish I still had it.

Crate LS2 with long tube headers and a tune. T56 transmission. 06 GTO LSD.
Hubs are C5 Vette.
All the rest is custom.

This is how it looks from the front:




There's a better shot of the frame here. Intake and wheels are different but you get the idea:



It's not a very big car.
That's why it's quicker than the TT.
