a little background... bought my 07 997tt with CF dash 2 years. ago. Last year the CF was replaced. it hasn't been even a 1000 miles and my car is garage kept in AC and the dash has been tinted and sure enough the CF is lifting again. CPO replaced it last time but even though it is under a year, the dealership can't do anything for me. Chris has it replaced before i bought it so in theory this is the 3rd CF on the car.

i find that embarrassing that a car legendary as the P911 Turbo to have such crappy carbon fiber much less porsche not willing to make a real fix instead of producing the same POS.

i found a set on ebay without the CF and finished installing it yesterday. anyone who wants to do this it isn't hard. the a and b pillar needs to be removed but you can simply remove the corner bracket on the dash piece to make reassemble much easier. that is what the tech did when he replaced it last year. everything snaps and no screws needed. here are the pictures

Honestly, none of the high performance sports cars have interiors that hold up over the long term. I've just concluded that replacing interior bits is part of upkeep. Though FIWIW, the Porsche leather is doing OK.

BMW CF holds up great. Not sure why Porsche is such crap... likely why they have the highest profit than any other car manufacturer. They fill them with **** CF I had to replace my center console it was so bad. I felt embarrassed

I hate carbon to begin with, so I'm glad my car doesn't have any, but seeing the stuff porsche puts in the cars after a few years, I'd purposely avoid CF, even if I liked it.

I just spent 1700 with DB Carbon to replace the cracked and lifting carbon fiber in my car.
2008 still under CPO and Porsche told me they wouldn't do anything.... Even though it had already been replaced under warranty.

I agree, they should be embarrassed.

There was no way I was paying for OEM stuff the second time through.

I ordered my Audi SQ5 with the carbon interior package. It's awesome, high quality stuff. I sometimes wish Porsche would learn from the Audi folks when it comes to interior finishes.

I find it to be a cold, uninteresting finish. I get the lightness and strength when used in vehicle construction. When used for interior trim pieces, it just seems poserish. Then again, I'm weird. I love wood in interiors (well in some cases).

More Porsche bs. Car had front windshield tinted. Dash was barely wet. Left car in the sun for tint to dry and dash shrunk. The leather used for the dash and trim scratches so easy.

You guys need to remember that Porsche only cares if things last through the warranty period.

These days, cars aren't built to last; they're built to last exactly for 3 years or 36,000 miles.

IMHO Carbon interior trim looks cheap, especially as it ages. Much prefer leather or alcantara. But I like it as a material and like seeing it exposed when used to in more significant parts of a car - saw an Aston 177 with the engine dropped and front end removed, carbon tub looked great.

I have the carbon fiber door entry guards with illuminated "turbo" script on my car. The CF there looks perfect. Is the interior CF damaged because of sun exposure?

I sat in a car at Rockville Porsche 2 years ago before I bought mine - it was a 2011 Turbo Cab in Triple Black, super low miles and tons of carbon. It looked good at first, but when I drove the car and rested my left arm on the door handle ledge, it felt awful against my skin. It felt like cheap plastic and I could already feel sweaty resting on it.

I realized then I would never, ever get a car with any carbon fiber interior parts due to this. The last think I'd want to do is rest my arms on a sticky feeling, plastic interior body part. No thanks.... leather or a nice sturdy vinyl feels 10X better resting against my skin.
