Yep and thanks!!!
There were aprox 100 plus different models of Porsches in the PCA Corral. I was in heaven...well worth it. Very professional operations... JB

I am just going to leave this for you guys..

I usually crew this event but not this year and given the cold night and rain I do not regret that decision.

Really good race. RSR knocked on the Ford GTs door for first place a few times but too quick. Pushed the Ferrari 488 back enough to take 2nd in GTLM class. The new RSR (moving the motor towards the middle to make room for a diffuser) made a big difference from last year. With some new strategies, I think they can beat the Ford GT

Yep, a Ford GT won the class, with the RSR very close behind...However, considering there were four GTs, and only one finshed in the top four not sure Ford can claim an absolute success.
Alternative Facts: Ford plans to enter eight GTs for the 2018 Rolex 24, to ensure a better top four performance. LoL. JB m

The AMGs had an odd sound too. Not off-putting like the Ford GTs, but weird--low and muted. The NSXs were underwhelming sound-wise. The 488 is fine when you can hear it, but it is no 458, and they are gone from GTD this year. C7s and Cadillac DPis were reliably muscular. The sound that caught my attention in a good way was the Oreca prototype's--loud and racy. The Huracans and R8s were probably my favorite GTs.

The sound of 4 Ford GTs going WOT up onto the speedway banking was simply comical--dying geese is what I told my son. Or, the worst coffee can Subarus you ever heard. Or, some awful form of flatulence.

Was the Taylor move ok? I'd say probably. I tend to think Albuquerque opened the door and then panicked, when he could have kept the lead by allowing Taylor the inside--or could have never opened the door in the first place.

How amazing is it that a 24-hour race ends with so many close finishes?

Was the 911 running out of fuel?

Combo of tires past their prime and going lean to conserve fuel.

Two things struck me about the RSRs: 1) They seemed to have the best top end in class, and 2) In the end, Pilet's handling of the bus stop seemed to preserve the 2nd-place finish. The RSRs looked very clean through the bus stop.

Corvette is going to be tough on the tight tracks again. Obvious torque coming out of corners, and the RSRs have given up a little of that. Over and over, the Corvettes would pull away from the RSRs coming out of the infield, but the RSRs were nearly in passing position by the time they got to the bus stop.

The Ford GTs were indeed painful to listen to... After nearly a week, I've almost recovered. The only race car I can think of that came close were the Mazda Rotary RX7s and Prototypes of years ago...their decibel levels were off the scale.!!!!
However, your comment comparing the Ford GT to the sound of dying geese was a complement IMHO.
Enough about the sound...but, until you hear it first hand, it's hard to appreciate. LugNut.

These pictures were taken pre-race and for the first 5 hours of the race, prior to the rain. Enjoy, JB

As I watched from the infield... The 991 TTS would come out of turn with little drama, speeding by quietly while the following Viper with an aircraft size wing and over the top loud exhaust seemed a handful out of the same corner. As the laps went on the 991 TTS looked confident and surefooted, while the Viper looked more twitchy and if pushed slightly harder would have kissed the wall, yikes... Just my observation. However, I was surprised of the speeds the factory stock cars were running and absence of helmets. JB

^^totally agree. 991TTS is a well balanced car compared to the Viper. At 2.5 sec, I will challenge any supercar. I rode in the 991 GT3 the past two years and two different cars compared to the turbo.
