I heard some Klipsch that I really enjoyed with I believe the 6.5"s woofers.

At the price of $550, I was wondering if the Polk Atriums or JBL's with similar specs at a much cheaper price can compare in the sound quality dept?

I have always enjoyed my Polk speakers. Not too familiar with their outdoor series.

The 251's are among their better products.

I spent 7 years inside their electronics, so I know where the bodies are buried.
Not a fan of most of their stuff (not for the prices charged knowing the BOM cost), but I think you'll like their 251's....not a fan of the 151's.

I have a few different pairs of Niles Audio outdoor speakers. One set has been around for almost 10 years. They are stereo pair on either side of my outdoor fireplace mounted under the eaves pointing down and out. I believe they are model OS 5.3. The others are about 2 years old and they are a combined stereo speaker IIRC the Model is OS 6.3si. I find with the way I have the set up the sound is quite good for outside. The combined stereo speaker sounds better in most cases since you are never in an optimum listening zone so this gives you full sound without as much imaging but you can't expect too much outside anyhow. They are powered by an Adcom amp and Arcam receiver.

I find with outdoor speakers you need more than one pair if you have a large area to cover. better to have several pairs playing at lower level than cranking up the volume to hear 40 feet away. This way I can have continuous sound without disturbing my neighbors.

I tired these against comparable B&W's and I liked these better for my application.

+1 for the Bose 251 good sound and they stand up to the deep-freeze of my country home. Been working for years.

These are rather interesting. I like the ability to blend in but $6k for the setup is a bit more than I care to spend.

I've had the same OWI's at my old house and current house, so I've been using them for approx 15 years. About 2 years ago, took them down to hit them w some matte black paint (body and grills) and they came out looking brand new. The still sound pretty good, but seems as thow a bit of the treble is "gone" as they are not quite as bright as my indoor speakers. They take power well and fill the back yard up when I "crank" them. They are hooked up to a Yahmaha reciever (pre-amped) then a B&K 150/ch amp. A little overkill for outdoor speakers, but powers them really well.

My brother and I put some infinity outdoor speakers up at my folks house and they sound VERY good. No where near the cost of the OWI's, but as they are 10 years newer, they actually sound better. They are hooked up to a Cheap *** Sony Reciever that my dad has hidden in the garage. All in all a pretty good bang for the buck for sipping cocktails outside and swimming w the kids!!

Infinity? Have all car speakers Infinity and my HT sub Infinity. Didn't know they made outdoor speakers? Have to check them out.

Anybody heard the Yamahas? They have great frequency range and are very cheap.
