What are your favourite headphones?
I'm currently using Bose AEi2's and they're decent but I find low frequencies get distorted, and the sound throughout the range isn't as crisp as I'd like.
So, what headphones are your favourite?
Also, any wireless headphone users? Is the audio quality compromised at all?

Depends what the intended use is. For portable use, especially airplanes, I found the Etymotics the best for noise suppression and sound quality. As for comparison, portable types I've had a bunch, iPod buds, Sennheiser, SkullCandy, Sony, Panasonic, etc. The Etymotics block out the sound without electronics, and have a nice balanced sound, not bass heavy like some can be with clear highs.
At home, Sennheiser HD650's are very airy sounding for headphones. You don't get that closed in effect that make you know you're wearing headphones. Although they sound great, the only use they get is when the wife watches TV. We used to have volume wars, not anymore, and I still enjoy glorious sound. Home type (over the ear) not as many, I've owned two types of Koss, including Pro's and Sennheiser. I've listened to others like Sony, Beats, Bose and AKG. The Sennheiser and AKG were the best sounding to my ear.

I should have stated, intended use is pretty general, from sitting at my computer to watching movies/tv (on computer) to using on flights. I wear headphones pretty much whenever I'm on the computer, either for enjoying video or background music while I work... so this is where they get most of their use.
I have my ipod buds for gym and outdoor/recreation use.
I'll take a look at some of those mentioned - thanks! I do like the compact design of the Bose headphones, they don't look ridiculous.

I've used AKG K240's for almost 30 years. Gone through 4 pairs now I think. Number 1 headphone for recording studios.
Open air design so no headaches during long use.

It mainly depends on what kind of music or just plain use you need these headphones for. If you want compact headphones; I suggest SkullCrushers by Skull candy but the downfall to it is that there is a battery powered bass booster and without that being powered; there is no bass at all. If it is for more casual and at home use; I would think that the best brand to reside to would be sony headphones. They're cheaper end on-ear headphones are light; inexpensive if you buy them at the right places; and have pretty decent quality.

Wow lots of options out there.
What I'm looking for in a headphone:
-sound quality throughout a large range of frequencies is a given
-compact design
-over ear/circumaural
-light/comfortable - my bose start to get uncomfortable after a few hours of use
-$300 range (the Beyerdynamic are just a bit outside this )
Anyone used the Sennheiser HD558? http://www.sennheiser.ca/live/senn/produit/en/1376/14

I don't know what street price is on those, but you should be able to pick up a used pair of the HD650's pretty close to what you are looking to spend.

Appreciate all the input guys!
Guess I should have specified, I mostly have them connected to either my macbook or iPod... not a lot of hi-fi stereo use.

Sennheiser PX200's would probably fit your bill also, not a total over the ear cup, but not in the ear either. I have a set, don't sound bad at all.

With your given description of what you are looking for in headphone; I know this may sound a bit stupid; but I think just getting some beats or beats mixr's would be good. If not; maybe Aviators by skullcandy.

Based upon this thread, I did some research on the Etymotics and decided to purchase a pair. Amazing for the price! Thanks!!
