new video. Anyone know of a good program to overlay a G-force circle using data from the iPhone app G-tac pro?

Not driving a Porsche this year, but I still loiter on the forums, and I haven't seen any Nationals video posted yet, so here's mine:

I tried that G-tac pro but it was a bit difficult to get reliable results from it - it might take a little more prep in advance. It was a bit fiddly for me - I was trying to focus on my next run kinda thing. I don't know how you could overlay that to the video unless there is a CSV export from that app and you have some other analysis software. But I am very new to this and just researching it. I want a dedicated accelerometer/GPS box. I'm going to be shopping around for a full house system with a <$2K budget. Check this out - And here is friend I met at SoloPro - Mark at Nats in Lincoln Nebraska Sept 7 09 Base model Boxter BTW. I have seen a few guys with similar such systems and I might invest in one for next season - hoping to be able to review and compare what I am doing as compared to some of the guys at our club who are better drivers to see what I can do to improve. I saw your videos there on vimeo, and I'd like to say that I really liked that you show the course map at the start of the video - when watching these autocross videos it's really helpful to see a course map first so then you can judge how the driving is going as compared to what you see on the map a priori. Here's a link to video from last weekend's PCA event at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana (aka California Speedway).

Greetings David,
Thanks for sharing your video. What video camera are you using to capture your in car (in this case, "out of car" ) footage? And if other Rennlist members have camera recommendations please share them as well...

Sam -
I am using a GoPro Hero setup. It works pretty well for what it is. It is very inexpensive and pretty durable. It's not as slick as the bullet camera setups with multiple inputs, etc but I just couldn't justify $400+ for something I was just going to toy around with. Many are using the latest generation of mini digital camcorders with great success as well. If you have one, you could just use that. I actually had a $400 Sony DVD camcorder that did not work in the car, so I returned it and bought my wife a very nice Canon digital camera with movie capability, AND my Hero for car use. |

Wow! Very smooth Chris and the lines look great.
I'll get mine posted in the next day or so. Mine are decidedly less serene!

Thanks, Dave! I need to use ALL of the course like you do.
That was one of my favorite courses this year. Well done on setting that up for us. We're really privileged to have you and Attila doing the courses for us. By the way, I think I accidentially rated your video with three stars...I was just trying hit the slider for the video and didn't even mean to vote. I think it was better than a 3! |

here is the latest one. A lumpy, gravelly course, with elevation changes.
