I'm looking at RE 11's for my 07 C2 6 speed and no PASM. I have both 18's and 19's wheels. The 19 RE 11 only come in 305's for the back but 265 in the 18's. Would the car turn better with the 18's? plus this is also my DD. The 305's sound a little big for a stock C2 in Colorado as we loose power being a mile high. And no I not smoking anything.

I was going to say how the RE-11 is old news, go for the RE-11A, but looks like there's no sizes for you.

The ones on Tire Racks site are RE11a's they have the 200 wear and not the 180 wear of the RE11's. I put RE11's on my 944S2 but never ran it. I do like the tire for the street. As for size Tire rack just listed the 235/40R18 as a new addition to the lineup. Plus 265/40R18 for the rear. As for the 19's they list 235/40R19 and 305/30R19. With my Victor 18" wheels the rear wheel tire combo is 6 lbs. lighter vers. the 19 and the fronts 2 lbs. I look at the 19's and ask will those big tires out back just push the 235 front around the track and under steer bad? On the other hand will the 265 be to small and make the car over steer?

The RE-11A has the new school high silica compound that gives you the best of all worlds - better grip, better wear, better pricing, which is why I brought them up. Other tires that use this next gen tech are the BFG Rival, Dunlop Z2 (which are now discontinued since the Z2 star spec are on their way), The Hankook RS3 V2, and the Yokohama AD08R. Not that the RE-11 is a bad tire, but why not get the latest and greatest, especially if the price is similar or less? You're asking about autocross use, correct?

As far as the sizing, I can't say for sure. In my (usually wrong and terrible) opinion, I think you're splitting hairs a bit. Size appropriately for rim width, and don't stray too far from OE stagger. Season handling to taste with alignment and tire pressure tweaks.

I really don't like the RE-11A tires. Admittedly, I'm not using them on a Porsche yet, but I've been very, very unimpressed with them. Compared to the RE-11 I was using they're about 2s a lap slower. I used them at one autocross, and I didn't even manage to go as fast as I could on RE-11 with half the horsepower. I just gave away the RE-11A, with about half the tread left on them.

On track, I much prefer RE-11. For autocross I like ZII. Though RE-11 have now been renumbered as 200 so can still be used in street.

I just pulled the trigger on RE11 type II last night and not the A's. I also went with the 18's to keep the tire and wheel weight down. I'm hoping not to over power them as I lose 15 -20% power up here were the air is thin. If I do I will go with the 19's next year and by then I may now how to drive the car.
