Question about standard wheels..
I have a Boxster vintage 2000 that has 7"/55mm and 8.5"/50mm widths/offsets in a 17" wheel. I know they offered 16" as well as 17" but are these wheel sizes a standard option for that year?

Those are standard 17" Boxster sizes, 17x7 ET 55 front and 17x8.5 ET 50 back, came as a standard choice on many 986 Boxster, i think the 16"s may have come only on 97-99 but don't know for sure.

16X6 and 16X7 is the standard 986 Boxster wheel size, The 17s were optional, and could be ordered as an individual option, but most were included as part of a popular option package, The 17s were standard on the Boxster S.

The reason I asked is I was going to take my 986 to as PCA auto-x and was classifying the car and they added points for the wheel widths saying they are not standard. Seemed odd as these 7x17 fronts and 8.5x17 rears were a factory option.

Yes, I imagine driving with the '17s (vs. the 16s) is like running with heavy ankle weights on.
